Can I just say I like both Blur and Oasis. Blur were far more innovative and musically talented but Oasis had the songs and attitude. In terms of sales and popularity Oasis pissed all over Blur. From a live perspective Oasis were head and shoulders above Blur. Blur when I seen them live were pretty weak. Oasis may not have had the talent Blur possess from from the perspective of having a beer in a field and enjoying yourself then Oasis would be my choice. It is different horses for courses and in regards to who should get top billing then I think Noel should get it above Blur. It will be interesting to see the sales and also how they fare in regards to ticket sales.

If it was to be Blur above Noel then I can't see Liam being there. There is no chance imo that he would play below Blur.

Completely agree with everything but blur would play above noel solo. Defo. Noel probs wouldn't do it tho

Thanks guys. Now bring on the rest of the line up!

Sincere condolences there Martin; RIP Mrs A.

I will raise a warm tin in her honour whilst sitting up behind the ribbon tower Weds PM.

I've not been keeping up with this thread, so apologies if this is wide of the mark or if it has already been said!

If the headliner is something set up by Chris Martin RE drop the debt campaign - Thom Yorke did a dj set at The Bank of Ideas during Occupy London - so money system/debt is something he has an interest in.

He is British and has played before :O

Apparently he told someone in a tea shop he's not at Glasto this year, and that the sound on the Pyramid is rubbish, Which is a shame.

Blur will be above Noel if they're both playing. If it was Oasis no but definitely above Noel as a solo act. Absolutely no question.

If given the state of Liams 'career' at the minute he'd turn down a chance at playing this hypothetical show because of the presence of Blur then he is, impossibly, even more stupid than he currently seems.

All bands have good days and bad days. I have seen Blur play in Manchester and they have not come close to touching how good Oasis were at their peak. Blur will never ever touch how good Oasis were at Maine Rd or Knebworth.

I was at Maine Road in 1996 and I would have agreed with you until Blur at Glastonbury in 2009. That was better than Oasis and, more importantly, far better than the last time I saw Oasis (2002)

- here's a thought.

Brian May said "you might see me with the Foo Fighters soon", which means he'll guest at one of their shows. Maybe at Glastonbury, maybe not. It's certainly not beyond the realm of possibility.

What bands could possibly justify "joining forces" for a headline slot? Queen are absolutely massive, and they don't have Freddie any more. For a special one-off show they might have a guest singer join them instead of the not-so-special Lambert.

Queen & "famous singer" would look incredible on the line-up. Maybe they're the headliner for this World Aid thing too? That would explain why the announcement is being held back if Glasto can't spoil who's topping that show.

Now it's a case of figuring out who could sing for Queen.

Harsh.

ALthough Lambo has just put out a solo single so your general idea about him not being involved with Queen for a bit might be onto sommat-

Queen and David Bowie (hopes through the stratosphere, I know) would definitely be a Glasto show for the ages.
Queen and George Michael has happened before. Queen and David Grohl could even happen.

So these extra quotes from Eavis in the Mirror and such. We're assuming they're genuine, right? Rather than just re-worded versions of the gossip on here, where all this stuff originally started. I still wouldn't be surprised if it was something a couple of people misheard, posted on here, followed by eFestivals taking it as gospel, publishing it, and all the rest of the media following suit with slightly twisted quotes.

But ok. On the basis they are real new quotes that he is now officially giving out to the media:

There's no way it's Blur and Oasis/Noel. Just wouldn't happen. Blur have their own tour and new album and this would totally overshadow that. Damon takes his music too seriously to do that to a new record.

Noel and Liam is hardly a "joining of two bands" that's "never been done before", is it? It's just Oasis.

I have no idea what it could be at this stage but nothing being suggested is remotely likely.

I saw them a couple days after Knebworth and they were dogrough. The other 4 times they were worse. Horrendous vulgarity of a live band.

I think they must have got shit fairly quickly because the first few times I saw them live in 95/96 they were great*

*I was 18/19 and there with a load of mates

** The crowd was doing a lot of the heavy lifting
