I think they must have got shit fairly quickly because the first few times I saw them live in 95/96 they were great*

*I was 18/19 and there with a load of mates

** The crowd was doing a lot of the heavy lifting

Doesn't help that about 15 years ago (around the time of Familiar to Millions and the Wembley gigs) Liam's voice went to shit. People go on about how bad Ian Brown's voice is live, but Liam's is just as bad and has been for a good while.

I have sad news. My Mum passed away this afternoon.She died peacefully in hospital.I'd be pleased if you would all have a drink in her honour at Glastonbury, any time, any place.Your discussions with me over the last few months have helped me to cope with the inevitable. Thanks guys.Now bring on the rest of the line up!

So sorry to hear of your loss Martin. Kind of puts all this headliner guff into perspective.

So these extra quotes from Eavis in the Mirror and such. We're assuming they're genuine, right? Rather than just re-worded versions of the gossip on here, where all this stuff originally started. I still wouldn't be surprised if it was something a couple of people misheard, posted on here, followed by eFestivals taking it as gospel, publishing it, and all the rest of the media following suit with slightly twisted quotes.

But ok. On the basis they are real new quotes that he is now officially giving out to the media:

There's no way it's Blur and Oasis/Noel. Just wouldn't happen. Blur have their own tour and new album and this would totally overshadow that. Damon takes his music too seriously to do that to a new record.

Noel and Liam is hardly a "joining of two bands" that's "never been done before", is it? It's just Oasis.

I have no idea what it could be at this stage but nothing being suggested is remotely likely.

aye, Blur giving up a headline slot themselves, with a new album to promote wouldn't happen.

Noel is touring his new album so why would he give up a solo appearance either?

and Noel seemingly has no contractual obligations stopping him from being announced given the gigs already announced, so could have been announced on the original lineup (if we're ignoring Alt-J supposedly subbing).

none of any Blur/Noel/Liam combination makes any sense.

as for the Mirror etc., I presume they got those quotes at the train thing today? if not, then I wouldn't be surprised if they were re-wording what the poster on here said, as no media outlet seemed to run it until well after it was on here, and then the efestivals main site....

What happened to the Chris Martin rumour?! What the hell is going on?

People seem to be completely ignoring the Chris Martin thing and are just picking two acts to headline now.
