Both points you've made here are pretty much exactly what I thought. Alt-J would be a quite weak sub IMO. And the hit to magnitude of slot ratio would be quite poor. I really don't get their hype as well.

Emily has pretty contradicted what her father has just said, quite funny actually.

Well this has cheered my night up, personally I always thought 3rd down/Other sub was the right position for them. They only have one arena date to their name, two subs last year comfortably have at least one full arena tour and one act was an exclusive with a broader catalog.

The thing is, Lily Allen did 3rd this year after doing basically a full arena tour since her slot before which was also 3rd. I think you could argue they could be bigger or sell more than some 3rd's but I don't think enough for sub. I do now think that Noel will be involved in the last two and I wouldn't be surprised although I'm not calling it if Chris had a part to play with Taylor Swift telling her what it would do for her here.
