Withakay
Really surprised alt j are so strongly disliked in here ...and yet throwaway sugar-sweet chart-bothering sorority girl pop music seems to be universally adored on here. Friendly Banter
Mick Fleetwoods pockets Oh did they make a quote somewhere? Just wondering what the real evidence is that they are ruled out:)
sime
Martin Ashford, I am very sorry to hear your news. I will raise a Tutti Frutti Brothers for you and your family and I hope Taylor Swift is on the line up for you. I may even go and check her out myself now

Spindles
Yeah, I've been guilty of passing on what I've read when people have asked, but with the proviso that it's all just speculation. These days I'm taking a far more pragmatic approach. It's not going to be alot of people, that only leaves a few possibilities and I'd be happy with about half of those, and ok with most of the rest. I'm hoping for something strong elsewhere on all 3 nights, tbh.
Fivefingerjohn
It sounds like she's referring to an individual artist they have not had before but they might be taking a gamble on.Sounds like Swift. Ur Taylor swift optimism is admirable.

Fivefingerjohn
Which eavis ruled out Fleetwood Mac?
Wooderson
There are of course clear comparisons to be made with the election campaign and the headliner rumours: Labour are Paul McCartney - appealed to a good large majority a decade or so ago, only to see their popularity gradually fade ever since The Conservatives are Fleetwood Mac - rich folk, not renowned for their honesty and whose treatment of those they deem beneath them is at least questionable. Very popular in the 80's, only to fall off the face of the earth in the 90's, before a resurgence around five years ago The Lib Dems are Blur - jolly popular five years or so ago but unlikely to do as well this time UKIP are Muse - an idea given far too much attention given that it's never going to happen and wouldn't be that sensible even if it did The Greens are Prince - an idealist pipedream, but liable to get huffy when put under greater scrutiny, and in reality never actually turns up despite lurking on the fringes of the discussion threatening to do so every time Well in Quinner. Solid postage.
math125
Blur and Swift? This is based on Emily tweeting "a great penultimate". She's hardly going to say the sub is crap is she. With a limited pool of headliners why would they waste a potential one as a sub? The way this thread is going we'll reach Bowie subbed by Prince with Pink Floyd doing the Friday morning TBA Other Stage slot. Here's a theory. Last year it was rumoured they offered Prince the gig and held out to the last minute for him. How about they did the same this year, got someone else lined up as back up but then he said yes. You've changed, efests. Yep, don't get it. I really like alt-j, don't understand all the negative comments about them. Gave Taylor Swift a listen the other day, recognised a couple of songs from the radio/adverts and thought "why on earth are people getting excited about her being at Glastonbury". Mainstream pop guff, more suited to somewhere like V.
Spindles
Yeah, for a long time I thought it was some sort of in-joke that I didn't understand. When I realised people were serious I was mortified.

JoeyT
Which media outlet is going to be first to run an article following Emily's tweet then? Surprised no one has got anything out there this morning.
Fivefingerjohn
Taylor swift is not a great penultimate. She would never headline. A great penultimate would be an act that could be bumped up to headline. Like Noel or libertines or even prodigy
Hugh Jass
I think Martin's enthusiasm for her is genuine, so for that reason alone I hope she turns up somewhere. Not for me personally, but then I'll just go elsewhere.

willutalk
The UKIP Muse comparison is quite a laugh. Although not entirely fees able. I think Rage Against The Machine would fit a lot better. Especially in terms of the EU. Edited April 24, 2015 by willutalk
sisco
Taylor Swift into Madonna would be my guess. (Yes i know, she isn't a band)

kalifire
Taylor swift is not a great penultimate. Incorrect. Given her status and reach, Swift would be a phenomenal sub and I wouldn't raise an eyebrow if she headlined. Sadly there'd be another outcry from idiots so I can't see that happening but subbing? Absolutely. Bring it on.
Mezhyp1
I think if you told any member of RATM that they were like UKIP, they would kill you. I feel uneasy seeing Rage and UKIP mentioned in the same sentence
