Glastonbury, and the act themselves, probably wouldn't care about the sales of another festival too much.

Glastonbury don't care if the acts they've booked do other shows.

Other promoters do - some more than others. Melvin Benn, for example, who runs Reading/Leeds and Latitude is rather obsessed with getting exclusives for the top of his bills, and an example of this in action was a few years ago when Flo was 2nd from top at Reading/Leeds and Bestival headliner; Bestival weren't allowed to announce her until May.

While I don't know all of the contractual details with that, I suspect she'd signed to play only R/L on an exclusive basis that year then then Bestival came along trying to book her too. So Flo's management would have then talked to R/L to ask if it could be done and what restrictions R/L might apply, and they agreed she could do Bestival but it couldn't be announced until May.

It's all about Melvin wanting to protect his investment in the bands he's booked for R/L. If R/L didn't sell enough tickets because he'd let 'his' bands play somewhere else, he's in the shit. I might not like that sort of thing very much, but I am able to appreciate how it makes perfect sense from a financial angle.

The UKIP Muse comparison is quite a laugh. Although not entirely fees able. I think Rage Against The Machine would fit a lot better.

Especially in terms of the EU.

My word, I've read it all now.

That's what I'm thinking, but what reason would they have to hold Swift back?

The fact they've both been held back is making me consider Noel/Libs into Blur instead, although I know The Libertines' gig the night before makes them less likely.

I guess she could have just been held back to spread the big announcements out more, or it could even be possible that she was only booked after the lineup was announced.

what reason is there to hold back announcing Noel? "other shows" doesn't really cut it, seeing as he's announced for a number of different UK festivals with different promoters already....

Fleetwood and Coldplay are both ruled out, Coldplay a million times on here and Fleetwood by Eavis yesterday. Blur subbed by Taylor does sounds very nice, personally I'm not so sure it's her but Blur are once again looking like a safe bet.

Considering both Taylor and Florence were considered potential headliners it's bloody impressive if they've got them both subbing.

where?

Fees able? Is this some cryptic reference to your hero & self-proclaimed “Man Of The People” Nigel ‘Cünt' Farage’s public school education?

On the back of what Neil has posted with regards Melvin Benn, I think Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds will feature somewhere. Noel wanted to play and I see no reason why Glastonbury wouldn't want him onboard with the great album he has just released. I think he will sub and would be a great spot for him to play. As for the headliner spot I would love Blur but I'm not 100% they will play so soon. They might pop up with a secret set somewhere which If i'm not dreaming Damon alluded to. (I'm sure Iv'e read this somewhere but please free to correct me.)

There are the pie in the sky bands like Floyd, Zeppelin Bowie etc which we can all dream about but after that I'm pretty well stuck. It will probably be an indie/ Heritage act to balance the line up so maybe Fleetwood Mac may be a goer.

So ... Emily's tweet does seem to confirm the snippets we reported that Michael had said, rather than refute them (tho with an amount of confusion around what Michael was actually meaning).

I see someone's posted that "Eavis ruled out Fleetwood Mac again yesterday", but no one seems to know of where (can anyone full in the blank?)

It seems to be the case that there's still 2 acts to be announced for Sunday, with a standard band as headliner, but (from reading between the lines) some sort of collaboration as the act before that.

It's definitely got us in a tizzy.

I'm going to throw it out there... Mumfords doing their Gentleman of the Road set with a load of other bands and artists, they're playing Reading and Leeds so that would fit the notion that they're playing elsewhere.

When did Eavis rule out Fleetwood again?

ha ha fucking hell. What on earth is a "gentlemen of the road" set. What a truly horrific title. Precisely what I'd expect from those public school buffoons.
