Emily's word's fail to say that the "penultimate" is normal band, when she makes a point of stating that the final band is a standard band.

That says to me that the "penultimate" is not a standard band.

Doesn't that say solo artist more than collaboration though?

Could just be that they've somehow convinced NGHFB to sub Blur? and who knows, Liam might show his face...

Why not someone like the Liberatines headlining with a strong sub, to soften the blow that the headliner isn't a massive Pink Floyd/ Led Zep type of band. Personally would be happy with Beck as sub (for me) or Taylor Swift (for Martin).

I think it rules out a collaboration for the penultimate act, too. Think we'll be getting two known acts. The collaboration only came from Michael saying "two bands", which has been clarified by Emily as two acts are still to be announced.

but she didn't say "two separate proper bands" when she could have done.

The fact that she didn't says to me that a collaboration (or something similar) could be what's happening in that sub spot.

And she didn't say anything about the press reports being completely wrong, as she has done with other things.

She said "don't get confused" - which says to me that what's reported is somehow right, but how people are taking it to be is wrong.

I'm going to throw it out there... Mumfords doing their Gentleman of the Road set with a load of other bands and artists, they're playing Reading and Leeds so that would fit the notion that they're playing elsewhere.

The only Gentleman of the Road UK date this summer will be in Aviemore, Scotland, that was confirmed when they announced it

Why would they not announce the sub headliner now? If it's not a standard band then surely there wouldn't be anything that could stop them announcing early. Maybe it is a standard artist subbing as well but also contracted elsewhere?

You're as bad as the rest of us, Neil :)

She posted one tweet. She had 140 characters.

I think you may be reading a bit too much into the words she used, remember Twitter only lets you have 140 characters!

and she had 16 characters left.

She could have said "it's all wrong". She didn't.

It was actually only 5 - the @grchughes is part of the 140 limit.

There is all sorts she could have said, but I think it's a stretch to read into this that the sub is a collaboration. Of course it could be, but I don't think it is likely. With this tweet, we know the "two bands" means they still have two acts for Sunday night to announce.

To sum up the current rumour mill

Most Likely: Blur

Quite Likely: Coldplay, Noel Gallagher, Paul McCartney, The Stone Roses

Less Likely: Fleetwood Mac, Foals, Taylor Swift, The Libertines, Madonna

Least Likely: Prince, Bowie, Queen + Adam Lambert

Not to even be considered: Oasis, Led Zeppelin, Floyd

EDIT: Muse are playing Rock Werchter and therefore ruled out
