stocky3000
Sorry to be a pain but, In which thread will I find the list of acts that played the main stages but weren't listed on the first announcement?
tomfestival_11
Emily's word's fail to say that the "penultimate" is normal band, when she makes a point of stating that the final band is a standard band. That says to me that the "penultimate" is not a standard band. This is what I was trying to say yesterday and got a lot of stick for it! haha
Mr Splodge
Sorry to be a pain but, In which thread will I find the list of acts that played the main stages but weren't listed on the first announcement? In here from page one onwards, it may take you to when the festival starts to read tho. Edited April 24, 2015 by slodge
mocoworm
Hahaha yep, good call. Still, could you imagine ME saying that about Blur and really meaning it? ME is talking about the combo of headliner/sub though. So if he can announce say, Blur/Oasis than that IS big. It's HUGE.
eastynh
there is a lot of (ir)rational hatred for noel and all things oasis on here, so people immediately go on the attack at the mere mention of them (I am as guilty of this as anyone). It is weird though, but I think certain bands do just feel like "glastonbury bands", eg blur, radiohead and some just dont, eg depeche mode. I dont know why really, but I presume it's because a lot of people still associate glastonbury with the glory days of the 90s Would you say that this is due to the 'type' of person who attends Glastonbury? There seems to be an impression that Glastonbury seems to be a festival for the middle classes. I have heard the statement middleclasstonbury on numerous occasions. Now I have no idea if this is true and I can't wait to find out what it is actually like. But I am a little worried worried from the stories I have heard from people that have been. I have been told that as soon as people hear my accent then I will get shifty looks off people who are worried that I might rob their tent. The Depeche Mode one is strange, I thought they would have been a perfect fit for Glastonbury. Worldwide superstars and one of Britains most innovative and ground breaking bands. Justiceforcedave
Does everyone remember back in 2011 when everyone thought that Arcade Fire would Sub U2? Manage your expectations and avoid disappointment folks
Boopickledaddy
I dunno, I think almost all of those make more sense than someone like beyonce. basement jaxx was a last minute panic, jay z was the festival being daring, stereophonics were pretty huge at the time (and shite), the levellers were absolutely a glastonbury band back then. Skunk anansie.....errr they did that one good song that one time.... rod stewart is more baffling imo True. I didn't watch Beyonce when she played. I tend to record lots of Glastonbury to watch after the festival and so saw a few of her songs when I got home and I didn't understand it, it just left me cold. I don't tend to hear much pop music (normally just listen to 6 music on the radio) and so struggle to relate to newer pop music. I don't understand Taylor Swift either (sorry Martin). I need the BBC to bring back 'Top of the Pops', my kids would love hearing the pop bands and I would enjoy moaning about them and at least I would know who some of these bands are. Boopickledaddy
LOOK, IT'S TAYLOR SWIFT, ALRIGHT? DON'T DESTROY THIS DREAM. Im sorry. I appear to be drunk. Fair play, starting the weekend early

ghostdancer1
Noel or Jeff/ELO for Sub? Noel because he has the calling festival to sell before announcing? ELO because they've got a tour to announce? Having said that, my gut says that announcing dates for an ELO tour would probably happen many months in advance to give it a chance to sell. Unless it's glasto appearance and then tour later on in the year. ....clutching at straws. ELO would be super boss! ELO are nowhere near big enough to sub. Noel has already announced 2 other UK festival dates, so there doesn't seem to be ant reason why his appearance would have to be held back for Calling. Rose-Colored Boy
Which band are the SNP? Rage against the machine??Female-fronted..massive surge in popularity since about last September although in a surprise only to those who weren't paying much attention...now looking to be in with a solid shout of playing a supporting role propping up someone not quite populaur enough to lead the line by themselves, despite attempted demonisation from those more in favour of a traditional conservative option... they're Taylor Swift. DefLeppard
I reckon Depeche Mode would be able to headline without too many people being shocked/disappointed to be honest. I also think Taylor Swift could probably just about headline most years but not this year as I think people would kick up even more of a fuss if it was Taylor and Kanye (I know hip hop and pop are completely different but I don't think a lot of moaners would see it that way...) I did not want to turn the talk into specific bands mate. I am more interested in what people think the criteria is for a band being a headliner. Hugh Jass
True. I didn't watch Beyonce when she played. I watched the first 10-15 mins of Beyonce just to see what the fuss was. Was pretty happy that she played the two songs I'd heard of (Crazy in Love & Single Ladies) before I wandered off to see QOTSA destroy the Other. ghostdancer1
Latitude and Calling Fest ticket sales really? Glastonbury would be holding off announcing a sub because of Latitude ticket sales? for an act that isn't exclusive? how have Latitude managed to announce him ages ago with Calling still to sell? alt-J are headlining Latitude and they've been announced for Glastonbury... Didn't that seem to be part of the thinking yesterday? Melvin Benn is particularly demanding and doesn't like his top acts being announced, Alt J were all but confirmed anyway so wouldn't have had a big impact, but people might not buy latitude tickets if they new Noel was playing G, he's definitely big enough for that to be considered I think
Hugh Jass
I saw them headline the Optimus alive festival a few ago and they were amazing. I forgot how many hits they have had over the years. This almost certainly sacrelige, but I saw them at Bennicassim a few years ago and they just bored me. Depeche have always been one of those bands that have never quite clicked with me, despite all the elements being there.
s30foster
Like Jay Z I saw Beyoncé just for the whole...I'm never going to actually go to one of their gigs but I'm intrigued to see what the fuss is about and watch them at Glastonbury. I enjoyed both sets!! Infact, Jay Z was one of my biggest Glastonbury highlights.
