The harmonies totally spoiled the bog-standard pub-rock arrangements that Ray usually favours.

One of my fears about The Kinks headlining. He and they are very loose. Don't really do transitional stuff either. And Ray and Dave are a bit.... off.

Mariah Carey complaining that she was thirsty and demanding a bottle of water, whilst standing in front of an African children's choir at live 8 was one of the greatest scenes of inappropriateness I've ever witnessed.

I've no time for the woman myself, but drinking water in front of Africans isn't an inappropriate thing to do.

Thing is, the Kinks have the tunes to do it. More so than a lot of bands who have headlined previously and the bands that are being touted this year.

I'm with Russy etc on this. Orchestra/choir is the last resort of the creatively bankrupt. Its what you do while you're waiting for the rehearsals for Saucy Jack to start.

Apart from ruining waterloo sunset.

I think it was waterloo sunset anyway. There was one of the classics which for me was decimated.

And i normally like the whole full orchestra/choir type thing.

Days was raped. It started off incredibly emotional with the tribute to Pete, then just rays vocal and it was shaping up to being one of the great Glastonbury moments.

Then those c**ts chimed in and everything was ruined.
