Don't know if it was anything too significant, but Noel Gallagher was quizzed again on XFM Manchester this morning by Tim Cocker about whether he is one of the three headliners for Glastonbury. Noel tried to joke around the question saying things like it could be Noel and the High Flying Foo Fighters, with Dave Grohl on the drums. He said that he was keeping Glastonbury free in his diary, and that he only wants to play Friday or Saturday night- wouldn't do the Sunday. He asked Eavis to get on the phone!

XFM seemed to make a fuss out of this being news, but it didn't really answer any questions. Sounds like he will defo be there, just interesting to hear that people are pushing for him as headliner.

Why not the sunday? Is he somewhere else?

Or does he know something we don't?

They will be producing and releasing the podcast of this morning's co-hosted show. Noel was basically saying that he would never want to do a Sunday slot at Glastonbury, and he was taking the piss suggesting that the Sunday is only for weird acts! He defo gave off a feeling that he was going to be there, if not even as a headliner option! No mention of Oasis in that section of the interview though.

Florence just announced for Hurricane the weekend before Glastonbury. So she's back and around at that time.

I know this won't be popular but for the lack of any actual evidence If i had to bet on a headliner (aside from the foo fighters) it would be florence and this does seem like a suitable warm up. If emily hears parts of the album and thinks its going to be big i can see it being an attractive proposition both sides.

That said i am completely out of touch on popular culture (i don't know any taylor swift songs) and others have said her popularity has dwindled (though surely that's standard between albums)?

Yeah I think people just don't hear her name much anymore because she's not putting music out or doing big shows so think that means she's getting less popular instead of being inactive. In 2012 she had a pretty damn big year and I think festivals will have been waiting to nab her for a headline slot. She had kinda drifted out of my mind for a Glastonbury headline slot while there was all this talk of huge legendary bands but I can again see it happening now.

Right at this moment (it will probably change in an hour or two) I think either her or Noel G will take up the Friday headliner slot then the act Eavis said had been around a long time on the Sunday. Elton or the Eagles or something.

Is Noel really a big enough draw on his own to headline Glasto?

I'd say so. He's a bigger draw than many recent headliners and Glastonbury is definitely his crowd considering a load of people buy tickets expecting Oasis annually because of the press. At the same time it would be a terribly uninteresting booking even for a 'new' headliner and he would probably do better to sub four festivals than headline just one.
