I can see them booking either Noel or Florence as a headliner, unless they were below a huge headliner (Foos?). I'm guessing that Noel will headline Glastonbury, and R&L will get Florence

It's making me pine for the days when expectations of Led Zep, Prince etc were par for the course.

I think last years headliners have seriously lowered expectations.

It seems to be all Mumford sized bands this year though, apart from ACDC. I mean, Noel by himself isn't a headliner as long as I've got a hole in my arse yet he's been bandied about. There was even a hopeful Robbie Williams shout a few pages back.

To be fair I have my doubts whether he'll necessarily accept that considering he's headlining fests globally now.

he doesn't play live anymore though, just DJs. most festivals (if not all?) that he's headlined have been dance ones where a DJ set is acceptable as a headline performance.

I don't think Calvin Harris DJing on the Pyramid stage in a prime slot is likely tbh.

It all so subjective but in terms of size of back catalogue, fame and sales (not in terms of style) you could compare the likes of

Florence (newish headliners with only a couple of albums but pretty big sales) to mumford

Foo fighters and radiohead (established headline acts for at least a decade) to coldplay and blur

Elton/ mac/acdc (legendery acts who are generally regarded as headliners rather than the legends slot) tostevie/neil/young/springsteen

Robbie (member of a huge pop group who had significant solo success) with beyonce.

Many of us may not like a lot of those mentioned... but many of us have been hoping for the likes prince, zeppelin, bowie

daft punk and the stones for years and though we got the latter we also got beyonce, mumfords and kasabian. I'd say if you're expecting a range of the above you're unlikely to be too far off.

Headlined at T and co-headlined IOW last year, headlining Lollapaloozas across the Americas and got announced for some big European jaunts today alongside Muse. So it's not just the dance festivals but you're probably not wrong about him not playing live, I never really looked into it.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think he'll ever headline the Pyramid (despite the thread we're discussing him in) but if he's the highest paid DJ in the world headlining every festival then he may not give a shit about headlining second stage at Glastonbury.

if he was still doing his live show, then i could definitely see him on the Pyramid stage, a pre-defined DJ set with little effort would be a complete waste of an evening Pyramid slot.

I agree on both counts, just saying he doesn't just do dance fests :-)

my preference would be him not to turn up at all but if he takes all the dickheads away from Friday night on the pyramid then i guess it ain't so bad
