Amy Lawn
Green Day are a complete joke of a band these days. None of that, thank you.

The 38 year old virgin
I first saw green day in reading 95 I think and i was too old and they were past it then, Each subsequent time I've seen them, they've been massively entertaining. Haven't seen them since they've been the emo band of choice though, and their albums are laughably bad
dentalplan
I don't really like them all that much anymore but to a crowd that may not have seen them, say at Glastonbury, then they'd be worth a go and would probably do well as they do put on a show. To be fair actually, it's a bit like AC/DC for a younger generation - no longer trying to break any sort of mould with their music but putting on a great show for the crowds. Don't think I'd be in attendance as I've been told that when you've seen them once you don't really need to see them again (particularly if you haven't listened to their output since) but I wouldn't be against their booking. Matt42
Green Day are/were a great band, they've done some incredible stuff but they are just old news now. I don't think they have any more surprises left in them.

DJL
I have a soft spot for green day as i loved them when i was 15. They're a good Reading headliner (not that i'd go anywhere near that festival these days) but not a glastonbury one. It would need to be alongside two very strong headliners but frankly i don't see it.
Bisque
I only discovered Green Day when someone left International Superhits in the art room boom box. Probably a great band live (gave them a swerve at Reading last year though but managed to drag my arse out of bed the year before), plenty of songs but I just can't see them doing Glastonbury. Ipayne
Saw Green Day at Leeds fest last year and thought they were dissapointing to be honest.. Billie needs to quit the whole 'Hey oh' thing, far too tedious.

Same here really, thought they put on a good show but I was still left wanting more but then again Biffy smashed it the day before Dookie in full was a treat though as I love that album, same can't be said for anything post American Idiot (which even has it meh moments, but it was the first rock album I loved so it has a special place in my heart) Also sorry Ipayne I accidentally negged you whilst trying to quote you so I've upvoted the last thing you said to make it better Edited November 29, 2014 by justanothername

Matt42
The only UK festivals I can really see Green Day playing anymore are Reading, T and IOW they'd just be a bit out of place at every other fest.
Muppetmark
Green Day aren't Glastonbury which is sad because I absolutely love them. I'd laugh if in 10 years they count as a heritage band and asked to play
The Placid Casual
People are begging for them to do Reading again this year. Hilarious I do like a few of their 90s tracks, so hearing cookie in full was decent, but I'm not sure anyone's told Billie Joe that he's over 40 yet. Heyyyyyyyyyyy Ohhhhhhhhhh Edit: I'm just gonna leave that typo there as it's brilliant Edited November 30, 2014 by WessexBoy
kalifire
Is anyone seriously mocking the prospect of Taylor Swift headlining at the same time as suggesting Green Day should? Wow.

Matt42
Going back to Flo, I had a little re listen to a lot of her stuff If she's got another album out, I'd say it's very difficult to see her as anything but a headliner, I didn't realise how many easily recognisable songs she has. Another album on top of that, which is inevitably gonna get a lot of BBC radio support, it's kinda unlikely she's gonna be subbing festivals anymore... The album could tank, but I really can't see that happening either. I guess you could disagree with me, but I'd probably be pretty surprised now if she's playing and not headlining. Oh shit he actually discussed 2015 headliners in the 2015 headliners thread, let's shoot him down. You wonder why no one new wants to join efestivals...
