I'd be up for Green Day - I like American Idiot and International Superhits, and never seen them live. Reckon they'd go down well - plenty of recognisable hits. Never played before.

And Taylor Swift could sub them. Make it America night

I've seen Green Day a couple of times, one of which was one of the nights at Milton Keynes Bowl that they released as Bullet In A Bible. That was a fantastic day, matching Glastonbury 2010 for heat.

But... as mentioned above, the incessant Ay Ohs, shouting the name of the city/country and the constant Hey! Hey! Hey! Can really get on your nerves. Having said thst, i'd be all over it.

Outkast were 7/10 at Bestival, still glad I saw them though.

Yeah thats about what I would rate them. Had brilliant moments, but some of it was a bit meh/average.

Would do well on the other stage for the huge amount of people who haven't seen them mind!

Is anyone seriously mocking the prospect of Taylor Swift headlining at the same time as suggesting Green Day should?

Wow.

Oh shit he actually discussed 2015 headliners in the 2015 headliners thread, let's shoot him down.

You was just stating the obvious though? I think everyone realises Florence has a number of songs that are fairly recognisable due to constant air time on radio/tv. Its not news or adding anything.

Been told by someone who has in the past got the line up spot on that BB King and Stevie Wonder are booked

Were they telling you acts who have previously played the festival?

Green Day: Put on a great show if you haven't seen them before, but I can imagine the gimmick wearing thin. That said, if they played Glastonbury I'd be there! No reason they shouldn't/couldn't be booked to headline at all.

Well I'd say that the phrase "gimmick wearing thin" is a decent reason. The first time I saw them I enjoyed them, but even then, when I was 14 and they were my favourite band (apart from The Offspring), I was bored of "heyyyyyyyyyy ohhhhhhhh" by the end of the set.

Also I got well mardy at that bit where they got people up from the crowd to play a song, I could have covered Blitzkreig Bop well better than that guy. 10 years ago later n I'm still pretending I'm a Ramone, and I never got a chance to prove it.

I saw them cover knowledge and I was buzzing, thought it was ace

Some interesting words from Emily in that newspaper article. Don't know how much of it can be taken on face value, but it sounds like they may have at least 1 'new' headliner this year (probably Florence), and of course she is denying the rumours of the Foos.

“There are lots of people who haven’t played , and there are lots of new headliners on the way through,” she said.

“Nick and I do most of the bookings now and we were thinking about that realistically quite recently. We decided to make a list to see when we would run out and there are enough acts to keep us going for another ten years at least.

“We are in an a unique position because we can create those headliners by catching young bands as they come through.

“If we catch them at exactly the right time to put them in those slots it keeps things fresh and they go on to headline at other festivals.

“That’s what we did with Kasabian, Kings of Leon in 2008 and Muse in 2004. We caught them at exactly the right point.”

In October 135,000 tickets sold out in 25 minutes before a single act had been announced but the rumours persist about everybody from Fleetwood Mac to the Foo Fighters playing in the main Saturday night slot.

“All I can say is all the rumours are wrong,” laughed Emily. “It’s still early days.”

Rumours of them playing on the Saturday are untrue? So they could still play Friday and Sunday between them?

this doesnt really sit right with me. How can they make a statement like that without knowing what acts will emerge/will release good albums during the course of the next ten years?

Surely who is going to be booked in future is decided on a year by year basis. It's absurd to suggest they might "run out" in ten years time based on the current music scene.

I read that as meaning as we stand at the minute. She follows it by saying they need to catch newer bands at the exact right time - which obviously increases that ten year time span - to give them a leg up so to speak which is what a lot on here have been shouting for for a while.

what worries me about emily eavis and her catching them at the right time statement, is that she refers to acts who have just sold loads of records.

I hope mumford and sons hasnt started a trend that is going to lead to ed sheeran and the like headlining in the near future, just because they are popular with the record buying public.

Jesus, what a load of elitist bollocks you spout. It's very amusing to us mere record-buying public. Do keep it up.

Thought that myself. Didn't they headline R&L first? Arctic Monkeys in 2007 would've been a better example.

Yup, and all the other big UK Festivals, so nothing new at all having them headline.

Sadly Ed is well on course to headline, look at the tickets his shifting next year, 3 nights at Wembley Stadium! Utter madness!

On the plus side, his at least "worked" his way up the stages at Glastonbury so I am a bit more forgiving if they do go for him.
