Wooderson
If they were genuinely lined up last year and pulled out with the window open for them to play this year, then going to IOW is a little bit off. That, however, is just conjecture and you can't really blame them for choosing a better offer at a similarly prestigious festival if they have. They suit IOW down to the ground anyway and I'm glad that Glastonbury have swerved booking another well outdated act. Great post.

Woffy
The eFests IOW FM thread is utterly alive with excitement and chatter at this news since Scottie's announcement.
Gucci Piggy
To be fair the IOW section is always dead. I'm not sure anyone actually goes to the festival.
justanothername
If day tickets are the same as last year it would be cheaper to see them at IOW than at their own O2 gigs (excluding the shit level 4 seats) The only problem is getting there Anyway I'm sure the prices will be bumped up for 2015
justanothername
There is hardly any activity in the IOW section the only reason I keep track of that section is because it is easy too
not worthy
Imagine the scene at the Festival Office yesterday "folks, quick, just found out IOW are announcing Fleetwood Mac on Monday. We need to get something big and exciting out fast to trump it before they do OK, no problem - if they're going for FM let's raise them with Lionel, that should do it!" chuckles and walks away
LondonTom
Wonder if the FM thread types will still carry on believing they will be at Glastonbury?

DomDom1984
Well, both FM and Glasto confirming they weren't doing it never stopped morons thinking it might happen. Don't see why them doing IoW would make things any different.

incident
aye 'twas terribly unlikely before but after 'Tallica someone putting an 'exclusive' tag on them doesn't make them less likely.I don't think Metallica is a comparable situation.Normally when festivals have genuine exclusives, they tend to shout about it in no uncertain terms. Even long before Metallica were announced for Glastonbury, Sonisphere weren't mentioning the "exclusive" in most of their marketing material, and when they did it was with fairly vague language. In comparison, "worldwide festival exclusive" is pretty clear cut. 5co77ie
Agree to what? Staying away?they didn't say it was a bit like he'd just dropped a bomb! They pretended they had never heard of Glastonbury. I think they said agree to play, "we'll tell them Shaun Keaveny sent us"
DomDom1984
Did Metallica say they weren't playing? No. So it's not the same.

In comparison, "worldwide festival exclusive" is pretty clear cut. i think I may have worded that badly point was they weren't playing before today so the words 'festival exclusive' being tagged on them elsewhere doesn't make them any less likely to play and from another angle 'exclusive' can be taken not to mean anything anyway, so if they hadn't already made it explicit they wouldn't be at G15 it may not mean much take your point 'worldwide' exclusive is more decisive sounding than Soni's language ever was tho
FrancisH
'Worldwide festival exclusive' seems almost too ridiculous to be true, is there any chance this could be a bit of exaggerating from IOW to bag a load of ticket sales even if they might be told to take it off in the near future?.. I just can't imagine Fleetwood Mac only playing one festival out of all the festivals across the world in 2015.
