One of the reasons U2 weren't very good in '11 was because of all the travelling. Led to an underwhelming performance from Bono - and obviously the pissing rain didn't help either.

Convinced that if U2 had played in 2010 as they were supposed to, the gig would have been much better received.

Wern't they doing a US tour in 2010 to though? Better weather obviously but...

The Isle Of Wight headliners are going to take some beating.

A a farily average band that subed Glastonbury this year, an ageing dance act and a MOR band from the 70s?

Yup :P

I cant ever see U2 doing it again.

The Black Keys headlining IOW puzzles me. Asides the fact that I find them boring, are they worthy a headline act at one of the big festivals? Always saw them as Latitude / Bestival sized.

Maybe they spunked their wedge on the Mac.

Definitely, given they did do Latitude this year hehe. Gotta be a booking on the cheap.

Shame about The Prodigy, was hoping they'd pop up at Reading seeing as I'm at Download over IoW weekend (not that I'd be seen dead there anyway).

I think it's much better to announce your headliners closer to the time, at least the other side of Christmas/New Year. I know IOW may be wanting to flog tickets and doesn't necessarily have the assurance of selling out that Glasto does these days, but still, those names aren't really enough to sustain high levels of excitement for six months, are they? And what if somebody else releases a killer album or becomes huge between now and then? At least with an April/May announcement, you have more time to allow for more recent changes/

Still, they've done very well to get FM in a worldwide festival exclusive. I'd guess that's probably more about FM having no intention of doing other festivals already rather than being persuaded by cash.

Very unlikely, they're not going to play lower down the bill if at Glastonbury if they're headlining IOW and I'd be really suprised to see them headline.

But they're not headlining, they're "jointly headlining". I reckon they must be possibilities for an Other headliner now. Or even better they'd be ace subbing (sorry "joint headlining") with AC/DC. Man can dream...
