There's no denying she has some cracking tunes but then there's Simply The Best. Knowing that at some point you will have to listen to that turgid, horrifying, monstrosity of a song means I couldn't enjoy a second of her set.

The potential does seem thin on the ground this year however.

I'm genuinely stumped with regards to possible headliners this year, I just don't see who is worthy aside from those 'legend' acts we mention every year.

Anyone else would be a massive shock IMO.

I can't see how anybody can be sure about anything at the moment. Nothing is known and it really could be absolutely anybody at this point. Apart from Take That. It won't be them.

And as it happens, I've just had something come in telling me that Take That said last night that they're "desperate" to play Glasto.

Take that have a perfect Glasto sized gap in their tour schedule as well. Pretty much the only real gap in it

Someone said on another thread that the gap had been filled in? Can't find any more recently added dates though to suggest it's true.

They've signalled their intentions to play a few times now so it might not be out of the question that they're not booked but they'd set up their tour to have a gap that weekend in case someone backs out like seems to happen a fair bit nowadays, for example if Prince led Glasto down an alley again. Not to say that they would or should be a back up obviously, just a thought. They could just have got tickets in October though.

Take That doing it has a certain inevitability about it. Maybe not this time around, but I'd reckon it'd have a good chance of happening in the next 7 or 8 years.

I was at their gig in Cardiff where they played a s a 4 piece and then a 5 piece with RW.

The only redeeming thing for me that night was the Pet Shop Boys as support. I thought TT were awful regardless of how many of them there were.

fleetwood mac are one thing, but take that as a glastonbury headliner? can you imagine if this had been suggested in 1994? Doe no one remember what an utter joke they were? The worst of the worst. The absolute pits.

in 20 years time are one direction going to be an acceptable headliner?

well from a musical POV it probably doesn't. Gary and Mark sing basically all of the songs.

but in the same way that AC/DC could get rid of everyone except the singer and the schoolboy and replace them with generic members, or U2 could ditch Adam and Larry and carry on with whoever on bass and drums, it just seems to be a bit lacking who "should" be there...
