fleetwood mac are one thing, but take that as a glastonbury headliner? can you imagine if this had been suggested in 1994? Doe no one remember what an utter joke they were? The worst of the worst. The absolute pits.

in 20 years time are one direction going to be an acceptable headliner?

In context, Take that today are little different from headliners of the past.

i wouldn't say i especially like them really, i've never bought an album or gone to a gig of theirs.

but i reckon they'd put on a good show as they've got the hits, and they're certainly one of the biggest acts in the UK, especially over the last 20 years....

the chances of me going to any Pyramid headliner are slim, but i'd take them over Beyonce any day of the week...

In context, Take that today are little different from headliners of the past.

I know there's always been pop, but take that! there's never been a manufactured boy-band type headliner like them before! I grew up with me and all my mates utterly loathing them. They were the epitome of shit music throughout the 90s. There is no more hateful act. I cant think of anyone less suitable!

I was at their gig in Cardiff where they played a s a 4 piece and then a 5 piece with RW.

I was more wary of them headlining as a four piece than with the three of them. Now it'd seem like they're being caught on their way down after losing a member so they might have missed the chance. Mind you there's obviously another rumoured headliner that's lost a member.

Whether we like it or not - TT would go down a storm on Sunday night to the day visitor crowd. It'd also pull in a fair audience on the BBC and would be a news item.

A lot of the Pyramid and who plays in the late afternoon and evening now is and has been for awhile....

GF as a whole though is not - so many people I know think it is only the 5 or 6 stages they see on TV. Long may they keep thinking that.

Not saying its right or wrong - just to ignore that Glastonbury is subject to the same market forces as every other commercial event isnt right. Glastonbury like every other mass event is about continuing to generate mass appeal and exposure. If that means TT as Sunday night headliner with the accompanying press- they'll jump at it.

Take that are on the same page as one direction. Are you saying you think one direction are a possible headliner? They would go down a storm on the telly afterall.

Fucking hell take that, and as a three piece to boot !? I'd rather have Florence. I'm all for a pop headliner, but something a bit more current that doesn't solely appeal to middle aged women would be better.

Take That have missed their chance surely?! When they got back together as a 5 piece the hype around them was unbelievable and I think it would've been an understandable booking. Now they're touring as a 3 it just stinks of desperation and income tax bills to be paid. Even the middle aged women in our offices who were desperate for tickets last time weren't bothered at all this time.

Girl/Boy bands are cabaret acts really so its all about putting on a show so the more members the more visually entertaining.

I'm just putting the idea out there - its a commercial operation first and foremost. Just because it currently sells out like it does now doesnt mean that'll always be the case. Punters have endless choice nowadays. Glastonbury has set itself up as the biggest festival in Europe and as part of that has to continue to persuade us that its the ticket we all want. When you set the bar at the Stones you need to keep reaching. And pop bands have the exposure.

I dont like it anymore than you do - but that Sunday night headliner slot is open for the big pop shows. We're talking about Taylor Swift as it is.
