Muse having a flimsy exclusive claim (Copping saying no other UK plans at time of announcement) and them playing gigs on Friday and Sunday makes them a long shot but AC/DC are too I suppose. Still reckon some more names could come out of nowhere like Eagles or The Cure or Rihanna or something.

Yeah true, and I definitely don't think it will be them. They are playing three nights on the trot on another weekend, though.

Muse, Fleetwood Mac and Ed Sheeran sounds entirely plausible for next year.

doubt Ed Sheeran will have a new album out by then so unlikely (thankfully). and then 2017 will be the fallow year, and 2018 will once again be too late in his tour for him to headline, and then he'll take up a nasty smack habit and become a recluse, avoiding a Glastonbury headline slot all together

If Ed Sheeran ever headlines Glastonbury then they really will be scraping the bottom of the barrel. If that's the 'quality' that can headline now then I'd fancy the chances of any 6 people on here getting together with a washboard, spoons, recorder and a keytar and getting a shot.

I think this will be the last year they'l chase fleetwood mac, don't see them being at all likely for next year. Ed could be doing it in 2016 if the album is out but that seems a bit soon... then again he might not need a 4 year time between like he did with his debut.

I reckon Muse will headline Reading next year instead.

The claim is flimsy but I think I believe it, can't remember who but it was suggested Muse would do download and some EU dates summer and arenas late 2015? I think they are probably right... makes sense.

Do Glastonbury ever get acts to headline on their second year of festivals for an album? I don't think that reads very well but someone may know what I mean.

Doubt Muse will headline next year.

Biffy will do it, init.

pretty sure in almost all cases the acts headline just as they've released the album rather than on the arse end of the tour, so yeah Muse are looking unlikely for next year. wouldn't be surprised if it's Biffy at all, although i hope not (but saying that, read that Biffy's new album is supposed to be pretty heavy / different from Opposites so fingers crossed that pans out)

I thought the new Biffy album was supposed to be more electronic or something weird? Can't see it being heavy at all.

'agressive' is the word they use - no mention of it being electronic or anything here. the opposite in fact (and thank christ for that. i hate bands' electronic phase / albums. rarely ever as good as their stripped back / guitar, bass, drums albums)

Ahh. God knows what I was thinking of, then. That's good to hear!

The Rolling Stones? U2? Beyonce? Mumford and Sons?

don't agree with that really...

Edit: Still don't think Muse are likely though

Biffy, Radiohead and someone very mainstream.

Well the Stones and U2 were different situations. Did the Mumfords album not come out in Autumn 2012? They played the first year they could have after it was released if so, so they still count.

Rolling Stones just released a greatest hits. U2 would've been headlining off the back of No Line On The Horizon had they not been delayed a year. Beyonce headlined off the back of 4. Mumford & Sons headlined off the back of Babel. some of them may have not been in the exact year the album was released, but they were the first festivals (or in the first year of playing festivals) they did play in support of said albums. none of them, say, headline Reading and Leeds and then headline Glastonbury the next year on the same album tour
