I can't see The Libertines headlining anything, personally. It's nice they're back together and want to have a big year, but they haven't released anything for over ten years, have no resonance with the wider public and frankly don't deserve to sub, let alone top the bill.

They have a new album coming out this year reportedly...

Ofc they deserved to sub on the pyramid/headline the other they will draw the crowd for it and like them or not did have some influence on the British music scene.

Headlining would be a bit much but compared to pyramid subs/other stage headliners of the past? They fit perfectly..

Personally, Libertines feel like a bigger and more likely Glastonbury headliner than many of the other names being discussed e.g Flo, Swift, Take That.

My prediction for the top 3 has stayed at Libertines, Foo Fighters, Elton John for the past few weeks.

I wonder when more concrete evidence of headliners will surface tho.

How exciting that'd be. Really working to level out the fact that just one of the six bands that have headlined in the past two years has contained a woman.

I think that's more reflective of the current music scene than Glastonbury specifically

Agreed. I think the current female acts "big" enough to headline are your Taylor Swift/Rihanna/Katy Perry/Lady Gaga type acts... None of whom are really Pyramid Headliner material because their target market is teenage girls.

Plus not being funny but even if I was as big as one of those mentioned above, I don't think I'd want to be the first solo female artist to follow Beyonce...

Incase they managed to be even worse? :P

Hahaha, I wasn't there so can't be a fair judge, but it came across as a pretty good performance on TV... Much better than the bizarre headline set with 4 costume changes I saw her do at V!

Plus it's just the fact that she's Beyonce. Putting yourself in a position to be directly compared to the most famous woman in the world (maybe after the Queen) is never a good idea!!

I'm not a fan, but I think Florence is by far our most likely female headliner and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see her do it. She's headlining various festivals around Europe this year. In 2010 the Guardian predicted her and the Mumfords to be future headliners and we all know what happened with the latter... http://www.theguardian.com/music/2010/jun/25/florence-machine-glastonbury-2010-review

By 'the Queen' are you referring to Madonna or Elizabeth Regina? Edited by Frankly Mr Shankly

Elizabeth. I think Beyonce is more famous than Madonna these days.

Madonna could do it I suppose, I wouldn't be there to watch though!

I'd disagree. Madonna's half time show at the SuperBowl was watched by more people than Beyoncé's. She also does much larger worldwide tours.

I think when some people say 'worldwide' they actually mean the UK & USA, when the reality can be much different.

The Libertines, Foo Fighters, Florence + The Machine

is that trio too R&L... or could you see that happening?

it does seem like an awfully shit trio, but i can see it happening. i'm just hoping i'm wrong and The Libertines are headlining Other / subbing (which would actually be impressive - them headlining, not so much). Florence being the Sunday headliner is just starting to make more and more sense to me

'a very long time' implies to me 30+ years. most of your average Glastonbury headliners have been around for about 20 years now - Coldplay, Muse etc. not a long time at all really

Is it worth me sticking a tenner on Depeche Mode? Or should I just give up hoping?
