kingcrawler
aye but they were paired up with Pulp at Reading so it wasn't as big of a deal (and also, i just think they struggled with headliners in 2011. i mean, i love My Chemical Romance, but there's no way they were first choice to headline) MCR were 3rd down at T that year as well with Pulp subbing, but I think that says more about T being really strong that year than anything. Gucci Piggy
And also R&L only seems to care about exclusivity within England. They often share headliners with T, but never with English fests. The only time I can recall anything of the sort happening is when Pulp co-headlined in 2011 and subbed IOW the same year. eFestivals
surely Libertines headlining Other would make their position as a R/L headliner look pretty piss poor? i get that the demographic is quite different and at R/L they'll be seen as gods whereas Glasto maybe less so, but i can't really see Mr Reading (i forget his name) going for that (unless, of course, they're part of a *gulp* co-headline thing). just can't see a guy who loves his exclusives being cool with one of his headliners playing the second stage of a rival festivalIf they're playing R/L then it'll be headliner only, I reckon. They've already done a 2nd-from-top "special guests" thing a few years ago, and presumably only didn't headline then because of worries about whether they'd really turn up on the day. Brave Sir Robin
Pretty sure the rumour that it was the Libertines was comprehensively debunked, though can't remember quite why now

Alan_C
Was the year before I first went to T as well. 2011 has that lineup and I go in 2012 and get Snow Patrol and Kasabian as 2 of the headliners I went both of them years. 2011 was ridiculous, especially when you look at the last few line ups and compare. I enjoyed 2012 though, but I went to see New Order on the Friday when Snow Patrol were on. The Stone Roses were on the Saturday as well, subbed by Noel. I still haven't caugh the Libertines so I'm desperate for them to play. Would go and see them over most people.

That's another point, not a lot people can claim to have seen the libs, they definitely have an exclusivity about them...

Exclusivity? Anybody who wanted to see them in 2014 had the perfect chance. 65,000 capacity at Hyde Park & 21,000 tickets for 3 shows at Alexandra Palace... Mezhyp1
Not that many can claim to see the Libs? What age are you chief? I agree, I am only 20 and have seen them twice, I wouldn't say they would be booked for exclusivity reason at all

I'm not saying they've over exposed themselves to the UK market, but anyone who has wanted to see them over the past 5 years has had ample opportunity.
