The Nal
Again with the Gorillaz. It was ace. In a small venue maybe. It was a snoozefest at Glasto. People were actually angry at how bad it was after! Too many gaps between songs and weakish tunes.
FloorFiller
Fair enough - just thought that there were other acts since then that would've better backed up his point - Springsteen or Gorillaz for example. both of those acts didn't work for different reasons than it being their first shot at headlining - Springsteen just didn't really 'get' the festival (or at least that's what everybody seems to say) and Gorillaz set was obviously hobbled together at the last minute due to them being a replacement, whereas Arctics was down to lack of experience at headlining festivals. Again with the Gorillaz. It was ace. nah, it wasn't. had moments of greatness but as a whole it was a fucking slog to get through Edited January 20, 2015 by FloorFiller
LondonTom
it wasn't a disaster but from what i've heard it didn't go smoothly - long gaps between songs etc that kind of spoilt the mood. think the band themselves said that they saw 2013 as a chance to make up for it Pretty much still what they do Only with sillier haircuts... the wonderwhy
Arctics still isn't a great example though. They've done nothing but headline festivals over here since so it obviously wasn't that bad

benus80
I would like to know who has a very great chance of headling as I would like to put a bet on and have a chance of getting some money back, as time is hard for me as I am working class unlike Mr blunt! Wooderson
The poorly judged Lebanese orchestra interlude to one side it was a fascinating whirlwind of invention and madness. Lou, Mark E. Everyone around me went absolute mental when Snoop came out for Clint Eastwood. One of the coolest moments on the Pyramid in recent years for me. kalifire
The less we know the more anticipation and discussion their is flying about, it's more exciting this way coming up to announcement time Agreed, and it's really interesting to watch the ebb and flows of the discussion, which can lurch wildly from 'Bowie/Prince/Led Zeplin' to 'Florence/Foos/Take That'. I don't think anyone's got any clue at the moment - it could be the most amazing headliners line up ever, or a huge disappointment. Personally I'm expecting an initial flurry of names to come out without much fuss in late March. If memory serves, they did it mid-way through balance payment week last year which seemed a bit late to me - far fairer to do it before people start confirming their places. ghostdancer1
They'd been confirmed by then I think? yep, Arcade Fire announced they were playing Glastonbury on Dec 19th.

Slugworth
Is it possible that the reason they have kept their cards so close is because they have the purple fella and don't want to cock it up?
FloorFiller
Is it possible that the reason they have kept their cards so close is because they have the purple fella and don't want to cock it up? was talked about the other day. who knows? could well be, but christ i don't want to jinx it. Michael did explicitly say that Prince wasn't one of the headliners a while back didn't he? although it could all be misdirection - wouldn't want him to be almost booked and then back out yet again

Matt42
Or they've booked three headliners that won't wow this board, but the reason why it's quiet is because they aren't really chasing anyone down. They've made the bookings and are now focusing on the lower bill? What if AC/DC really are headlining, scratching my head to think of many other options than Flo/foos/eltonjohn/libertines etc What if the libertines are the third headliner? So many questions, hurry up march!

People were actually angry at how bad it was after! Too many gaps between songs and weakish tunes. Had a cracking conversation with some people by me about whether the guy on stage was playing a tuba or a euphonium. Heady days. But overall, I enjoyed it. kalifire
Is it possible that the reason they have kept their cards so close is because they have the purple fella and don't want to cock it up? I think that's a very plausible theory, although it's more likely that they're in the process of trying to get him confirmed rather than having him booked already. If the latter, there'd be no secrecy needed. Oh god, who knows. The only down side to knowing nothing is your imagination gets carried away with all the possibilities... Beaver89
Been quietly observing round these parts for a very long time and want to get involved more again after several years. The questionnaire answers had me beside myself at work while skiving. Re Blunt. Odd to see opinions on equal opportunities flip flop compared to T-Day (not actually wanting to get involved with that debate - it's a toxic one, especially these days) Florence could easily headline Glasto. And I really enjoyed Gorillaz and was actually quite upset by the floods of people streaming out screaming it was shit as opposed to leaving quietly to allow those who like them to enjoy it. A low gig point second only to being called a w*nker for walking out of Radiohead's KoL park set to find a lost friend. I did make a post once upon a time about the release of information. Think it may have focused on full line up releases though rather than headliner releases. I'll see if I can find it. I think Flo, Foos and Elton is a strong shout if slightly stealing Bestival's 2013 headliners - was there and they were good. Elton absolutely loved it

Purple aki squat
There's no way Florence is headlining. Can't understand for a second why there's so much speculation that she is. before anyone kicks off about Mumfords it's worth remembering that like it or not they had solda shitload of albums which is why they were booked. They got a big crowd as well. Saw float few years back on other stage and it was horrendous, wailing and shouting. No way I reckon. Foo fighters, Bowie or Roses and Elton John is my guess. If it's Florence it will make the metallica crowd look huge. Rant over. Prince and Roses please, is all I want. Ta

Ta it's definitely not Florence, but Bowie is realistic?! i'm not gonna write it off totally, but Florence headlining is far more likely than Bowie (or Roses for that matter, who at this point might as well have disbanded)
