3rdeyegirl are part of NPG which is currently his name for collective of musicians. When he played Essence festival in New Orleans a couple weeks before or after Glasto last year, he played with 3rdEyeGirl but also with NPG Horns,singers, dancers and keys. But, Ida the bassist was already a member of the NPG band before 3rdeyegirl came about.

most of the 'big legend' headliners' recent outputs are pretty shite though, aren't they? i mean, look at Springsteen who foolishly thought playing the eight minute long Outlaw Pete was a good idea. at least Prince seems to realise that people going to see him live don't give much of a shit about the second half of his career and fills his sets with all the hits (albeit, often in medley form)

Possibly, I've never made a secret of how annoying & irritating I find her.

It was bliss to see Prince live without her warbling back vocals or the lights bouncing off her shiny head whilst she dances like an attention seeking auntie at a wedding on Prozac.

Yep, but in fairness you could have said the same about Bowie and he pulled it off on the pyramid...

Not that bad though. Bowie was embracing different sounds within alternative rock (and drum & bass by the time he headlined I think?) whereas Prince & 3RDEYEGIRL largely sound like sub-Aerosmith shit blues rock.*

Though I'm not doubting Prince would go down brilliantly on the Pyramid. Just the rarity and volume of anticipation for it to happen nixes any chance of it falling flat.

*-this is based on the ten minutes I've spent listening to them on YouTube by the way.

Outlaw Pete is a disaster. Absolute dogshit. That entire album is. But he had 3-4 good albums in the few years previous. Neil Young always has something interesting out. Metallicas last album was good. Stevie Wonder hasn't released anything in years so its hit and miss. Stones the same.

But the important thing is the live show. I'm sure Prince would put on a great show. Medleys are shite mind you. Really frustrating.

But for some reason Prince can do no wrong due to his "coolness". I was never a big fan apart from the odd spot here and there. Liked his early 90s stuff. Hes a fucking diva idiot though. In the very outdated cringing 1980s way.

Prince just reminds me of Christopher Nolan movies where everything he does is "amazing" and not open to criticism.
