Apparently half the posters in this thread refuse to give us a break from this tedium, though, and I imagine mine and others' rebuttals are getting similarly wearing, so I won't bother any more and just leave the every-headliner-has-to-be-to-my-taste-and-also-one-of-the-biggest-acts-of-all-time-or-they're-not-a-valid-suggestion brigade to it.

Another factoid to throw into the mix - Florence played at that bash to honour Michael last year. So I'd guess the Eavii like her.

If that was supposed to be some sort of clever rebuttal, maybe try again, but actually counter any of the points made and don't swerve onto a random Taylor Swift tangent next time, and you might fair better (see, I can do condescending smilies too).

Plus she played the festival four years in a row - she is a "friend of the festival". Meaning if they are gonna promote a British artist to "headline status" a year they don't have vintage bands lining up to play ... it is likely to be her. Much like Mumfords.

This isn't the Florence Welch appreciation forum, infact most people here don't seem to like her. And nobody is trying to suggest she is going to be a massive headliner, or would be booked ahead of the likes of Fleetwood Mac, ACDC, Prince and any other massive names they wanted this year. But when all these people aren't available, she is better than the fucking Vaccines.

The stupid thing about this thing whereby big artists still 'aren't big enough' is who else are people expecting? Eavis has even said himself most acts that can headline Glastonbury have already done so, and it's obvious the Eavises don't take that much pride in recycling headliners. The ones that haven't have either split or are of a questionable state, or choose their own shows every time. It's at a point where if Florence and the Machine or Noel Gallagher or The Libertines aren't big enough then who actually is?
