Well as they've pointed out, the headliner pool is running dry and they're trying to refocus a lot onto the nightlife of the festival and stuff instead of the biggest acts. This might give them a bit of room to experiment in future with headliners when they feel comfortable about that so there could be a few acts that have risks taken on them. However that'd be unlikely to mean they'll give the gig to acts that didn't reach that level in the previous twenty years like PJ Harvey so people may have to start listening to and supporting new music.

Yeah - I was there and she got it badly wrong.

Though not just in Murrayfield - I think it was the same setlist wherever she played.

Yup - I went all the way to Amsterdam ad it was probably the best Madonna show I've ever seen. Mind you, I like her last album and am not a massive fan of her 80s stuff. A nostalgia set would be awful, she really isn't a chicken-in-a-basket performer. She's always "toured the album" she's not like the legion of old stars who just pimp themselves on their previous success.

It's amazing how people are happy for an artist to be a sell-out when it suits them...

I don't think it did. It was my first glastonbury. We got ours on the sunday. Pretty sure a few other mates got them a few days later, if memory serves.

2010 sold out on the sunday

from wikipedia but its the way i remember it:

On 22 January 2009, at Midem 2009, Michael Eavis announced that 90% of the event's 137,500 tickets had been sold. He also stated that although headliners had not been confirmed, he was awaiting confirmation from the acts he had approached.[6]

Re-sale[edit]

Reserved tickets which did not have their remaining balance paid by the deadline were put back on sale on 2 February 2009 and it was announced the next day that the event had sold out, with the majority of reservations being balanced by 1 February deadline.[7] A re-sale of cancelled tickets was held on 5 April 2009 at 9:00 am. These tickets sold out by 10:15 am.[8]

I don't see the appeal of wanting an artist you like having a big push to headline the pyramid over a smaller more intimate stage. For lack of a radiohead or bowie, Chemicals on other, belle and sebastian on the park and hot chip on west holts would do me nicely..

Never seen Hot Chip. I'd be pleased if they were on this summer. I'd have thought Hot Chip into Chemical Brothers on the other stage rather than west holts though?

Their sunset set when they subbed Flaming Lips in 2010 was an emotional time for all concerned

Think they should get a crack headlining Other if poss though!
