Russy, I agree with you to an extent but sadly those days are gone. We considered the Green Gathering this year for that reason.

I put up with what it has become because it has bonuses too- the Rolling Stones on the Pyramid? Plus we are cocooned in our recycling work and that tends to have a lot more old schoolers around.

Everything changes, as ahem, Mr Barlow might say.

yeh I know what you are saying, but it irks me when people say "glastonbury is for everyone! isnt that what it's all about?!"

Well, no frankly, it isnt. There are lots of different types of people who I would like to see put off going to the festival.

Having nigel farage and boris johnson as guest speakers would encourage more people who would make the festival shitter want to attend. Do we want those kinds of people there??

Just like laying on headliners such as taylor swift will encourage more people who will make the festival shitter want to go.

Thinking the festival will be better if people from all walks of like are there is just crackers. The vast majority of people are absolute bellends.

From my experiences anywhere it's really what you make of, Titp there is an absolutely entourage of w*nkers every year, but you go, do your own thing and still have a great time, even abroad when I've been to RW or RaR you go and don't understand anybody or the culture but you still make a good time of it

Having TS headlining a festival which is already sold out to people who want to go to glastonbury isn't going to change the atmosphere of the festival

TS wont have an impact on this year, but next year it will.

glastonbury in itself isnt special. It's the people that make/made it special.

If you transport the titp "entourage of w*nkers" into glastonbury, glastonbury will be just as shit as titp is.

And more and more of those knobheads are coming each year, due in part to the trash on the main stages and the expansion of the SE corner at the expense of other areas.

I have to say last year I did notice it at Silver Hayes... We usually stay at Rivermead which means a walk through Silver Hayes to get back to the tent. In 2013 it was always quite nice and we'd stop off at a couple of the venues there on the way back for a drink and a dance... In 2014, as one of my friends elegantly put it, it was like wading through c*nt soup just trying to walk through, you couldn't even get near any of the venues and everyone was completely off their tits but not in a nice way, in a really aggressive way. The atmosphere was horrible. I can only put it down to the fact that they developed Silver Hayes in 2013 and the good dance lineup it had attracted a lot more people who like "clubbing" in 2014.

(This is not saying that everyone who likes dance music also likes getting off their face on meth, but there was a lot of that going on... And for me to notice this whilst being fairly drunk, it must have been bad!)

I can see what Russy is saying.

Imagine all those absolute tw*ts who find it hilarious to set fire to people's tents at Reading Festival turning up at Glastonbury. It would ruin it.

It is indeed the people who make any place special and whilst I'm not saying having a particular act will kill the festival, the type of people who have made Glastonbury the festival it has been / is up to this point will find it harder to get a ticket therefore going forward it will change for the worse no doubt.

No, the point of the festival for me was to get away from the real world for a weekend and mix with like minded people from a wide range of backgrounds.

now there is far too much shit from the real world inside the fence. Really shit music and the people who like that sort of really shit music for example.

You must be surrounded by a bunch of shit/boring people if you notice all the people you have come to dislike at the festival.

The 'shit' music can be easily ignored while at the festival, I've met people that don't venture out the south East corner or the green fields.

You seem to dwell on how the music is shit and not to your taste as well as the people that attend the festival. I think either you have outgrown the festival or the festival has outgrown you??

More fuel for the Libertines fire:

10hCatasha @tbandicoot

Not to spoil the surprise but when I met Carl Barat he told us all he was playing Glastonbury with the libertines x x x

No idea who this girl is, reliability etc.

She could just be doing a bit of fishing, there's plenty to suggest the libertines will be there and there's plenty to suggest that it's nothing more than waffle

I thought it was just me!

I thought Silver Hayes in 2014 had a completely different atmosphere to the rest of the festival, felt a bit prison campy

the libertines are apparently headlining r&l and T so I wonder if they will play a la "special guests" and not be officially announced.

Think they'l play under foos, there's been a lot to suggest they are at all three.

You remind me of that character in the fast show who changes his mind as soon as someone suggests something different.

Neil said the libs are likely to headline reading in the reading thread.

What's wrong with suggesting something something that's very likely?

Why is it only me that gets criticised for this when pretty much every user does the same.

To be slightly fair to Matt there has been some rumours of them playing all three, some stronger than others and except from the information Neil had none from creditable sources

Silver Hayes is probably more like a Leeds fest or titp atmosphere and least friendly part of the fest. But I don't think it's that bad, just magnified by the fact that everywhere else is so chilled and friendly.

It can be a bit of a shock to the system when you've just spent a few hours at stone circle and green fields to then have to walk back to your tent through a titp like atmosphere.

Parklife has the biggest number of bellends for a festival. The most aggressive and uncomfortable atmosphere I have had the misfortune of experiencing.

This is exactly why I stopped being excited about the new Brighton(ish) festival when I found out the two had connections.

Well, that and the lineup is dross.
