The 38 year old virgin
Why is it only me that gets criticised for this when pretty much every user does the same. Can anyone else picture a petulant teenager staring at a computer screen with arms folded and bottom lip out?
giantkatestacks
I think that you cant influence who comes to a massive festival though unless you are burning man and can do it by sheer logistical difficulty. Yes Glastonbury required more commitment when it was more frightening and the toilets were more terrifying etc but you cant be like Lear raging against the weather on the heath, we either have to step away or engage with the people who are there. eastynh
I know a couple of people who went to last year and absolutely hated it, V festival nowadays isn't much better I enjoy V and will be going again this year. There is enough variety at V to stay away from the clowns. Unfortunately that is impossible at Parklife.
FuzzyDunlop
Parklife has the biggest number of bellends for a festival. The most aggressive and uncomfortable atmosphere I have had the misfortune of experiencing. I went to the one at Plattfields to see Ian Brown. Never been since and I never would do

Withakay
Parklife is only a mile up the road from me and I'd never want to go. The problem with big events in Manchester is that all the scallies go, whether they're into the music or not. At least when in was in Plattfields there were quite a lot of students but now it's riddled with scumbags.
hoils
yeh I know what you are saying, but it irks me when people say "glastonbury is for everyone! isnt that what it's all about?!" Well, no frankly, it isnt. There are lots of different types of people who I would like to see put off going to the festival. Having nigel farage and boris johnson as guest speakers would encourage more people who would make the festival shitter want to attend. Do we want those kinds of people there?? Just like laying on headliners such as taylor swift will encourage more people who will make the festival shitter want to go. Thinking the festival will be better if people from all walks of like are there is just crackers. The vast majority of people are absolute bellends. Where do I stand in the great Acceptable People To Attend Glastonbury pie chart? I989 was my favourite album of last year. I will be fucking beside myself with excitement if TS playes. My other massive wish list for this year include Take That, Bright Light Bright Light, Cher Lloyd, Rihanna, Sam Smith, Charli XCX and Madonna. I have no interest in The National, Nick Cave, Bjork, Portishead, The War On Drugs or any of their ilk They bore me to tears. But I've been to every Glastonbury since 1992 and it's my favourite place on earth. My politics swing from Old Labour to anarchist. Oh, the confusion. Am I allowed into your Glastonbury? CaledonianGonzo
No Portishead fans allowed in my Glastonbury. If you approach Portishead with the right attitude they are one of the best life acts you'll ever seen, no wailing about love loss, just enjoying the music
eastynh
I obviously don't associate myself a diverse enough groups of people, this is an eye opener I certainly do not ever remember them being that big. They were music media darlings and loved in cocktail bars. But they certainly never crossed over to the main stream. I can appreciate them and the singer was lovely and fantastic. But watching them would not be that high on my agenda.

I think they are better now than in the 90s. Beth used to annoy me immensely back in the day. Especially on glory box.
