If she takes headliner at some European festivals and say Reading and Leeds or T in the Park, or a sub at those, in 2015 she could headline Glasto and V/the in 2016. If she takes Glastonbury sub in 2015 she will have to wait till her next album cycle to headline Glastonbury.

This is all assuming her third album is going to do really well.

I imagine Foals to face the same problem on their next cycle..

I don't think she's the right act for Reading/Leeds. Maybe more suited for V, bst, and T.

I don't think she's got a name/brand that can sell out a festival, unless the other headliners are very commercial. For Glasto that's not as much a problem, if they give her the opportunity and she nails it, other festivals will coming knocking on her door with a nice cheque for her to headline next year.

Iow openly admit they can't afford to give headline slots to untested acts.

Foals first headline chance will come from Reading/Leeds after the release of the new album I think. Then they will probably do Glasto the year after, ending the tour.

I don't see why we have completely ruled out Radiohead just yet

While there's an outside shot they could show up in a secret slot as they did in 11, it's hugely optimistic (pun most definitely intended) to still think they've got a shot at headlining this year. Jonny recently referred to them as a slow moving animal, and their track record for recording albums suggests it'll be 12 months before they're anywhere near releasing a New LP, or even debating doing live shows. I pray that I'm wrong, but history is against us.

Is there any basis for the thinking that Flo is headlining, other than the fact that she seems to be headlining everywhere else? Have I missed something?

She headlined Bestival and subbed a few other major festivals already and is anticipated to get even bigger on the next album. She's getting even bigger slots everywhere else so it's pretty understandable now.

Jonny and Phil both seem to be touring and I think they've said to bookers that they're not doing anything this year. Can't wait for them to get back on tour though.

Come to think of it, I'm amazed Paolo Nutini didn't get the nod to properly headline T in the Park. I know that's a bit unrelated here, but this whole discussion just brought that into my head.

Last year? To be fair, at the time of the announcement I don't think many people anticipated his comeback to be so successful. I remember many people being disappointed that he was the sub below Calvin Harris, as they were expecting another headline act in that slot.

You can count me among those who thought it was a disappointing one, but I kind of forgot how well he did with the last album before that one, touring wise as well. I don't think he was far off where Florence is now. I suppose the difference is that Nutini wasn't subbing festivals before, and so would be making a more considerable jump.

But it's still just speculation at this stage? There's nothing concrete that's been heard to suggest she is going to be doing it?

In hindsight yeah, but as Will says people seemed quite disappointed with how high up the lineup he was when he was announced, though I imagine a large part of that was because they were expecting a co-headliner (Eminem) with Calvin Harris.

He's a certainty to headline on his next album though.

Oh I see. I don't believe so. I don't think anything's been said anyway.

It looks like we're all assuming that it's gonna be Foo Fighters, Florence and Taylor Swift then. How depressing.

I ain't. :beach:

I'd say it'll be silly at this point to assume Florence. She's likely, but not likely enough to make any assumptions. Taylor Swift and Foo Fighters seem to be stick ons though.

While I appreciate she's a SR, I still think Taylor Swift is some way off being a stick on. Particularly for a headline slot in the middle of a four day run. I think Neil even said yesterday he's not sure about it but I might have imagined it in the middle of the mad ten minutes or so, I dunno.

Didn't Neil say that it seemed likely?

Not really, nope.

Someone who's better placed in gossip loops than I am said that i should be assuming it's her, and someone else who's also better places said to me he thinks it's her.

Neither of those people are betting their lives on it, so neither am I. It's more an informed guess from them both.

Do you now believe she is probably playing but have doubts on her headlining?

there might be nothing to it at all, that it's assumptions made from what Michael said about her, or perhaps even just a guess. I'm unsure of the full reasoning behind what's been said to me.

I'd put it about 50/50 that she's playing. If she's playing then I'd guess she'd headline, but that's just a guess.

So the reason you're going with it is because you've heard more about her then other acts? Thefore whoever you have the most info on is probably more likely then someone that constantly gives you dead ends? (AC/DC)

No, I'm going with it because these people are well placed to hear good stuff and often give me good stuff - but they're also well-placed to get duff gossip as well. You don't find out which it is until later on.

They've not made clear to me what is exactly is behind what they've said to me, so I'm treating it as tho it could be duff gossip as much as I am good info.
