Did he have a big frizzy afro? I think I know the guy, he goes to every gig in Bristol and is deaf so stands right by the speaker generally.

Youre talking about Jeff(Geoff?). He's somewhat of a celebrity in Bristol. I've met him at a few Bristol gigs and at Bestival last year. Bumped into him one time at Caribou's set at Simple Things and Caribou tweeted him after saying how great it was to see him there at the barrior. He's known to quite a few musicians I think. Very sound guy

That sounds like him, he was at Royal Blood a few months ago as well. Never spoken to him, girlfriend did before and said he was a really nice guy. Fair play to him, takes some effort going to all the gigs he does.

That's the one - seemed very happy and was really enjoying himself. Neil had been descibed to me (obviously badly as I have now seen a photo) and I wondered if it was him.

Is he a tall chap with a grey/whiteish afro? Loads of festival armbands and overly animated maybe? If so, saw him at The War Drugs in November for sure.

South West legend, Big Jeff

He's at SO many gigs/festivals, that almost everyone will have seen him. Yes, very nice chap. Rumour is he often/usually doesn't have to pay entry now, such is his demonstrated support of the live music scene that he's earned a permanent free pass. Obviously, this could be complete bollocks.

I think he had been frizzed as it was much more afro that that.

Big Jeff was, and I'm not exaggerating, a major part of my adolescent years. Was right behind me for my first ever concert and is at all THE rock gigs, but having said that I even saw him at Scissor Sisters once.

Lovely guy too. I once waved to him in the street and even though we'd never properly spoken he came over and we had a good twenty minute chat about festivals.

And, it's worth mentioning, is on Twitter: https://twitter.com/BigJeffJohns

Nah, that is him, trust me. His hair now is much thicker/afro - almost like mid-length sticking-up dreads all over his head!

I see it now

2013/14 all over again.

We get the whole two headliners and another up until march. We discuss and threads appear. At one point p***** seems likely, at one point some other legendary act seems likely, but then that all gets ruled out. Then as we go things get weirder and weirder.

Then it gets to mid march, we know an announcement is soon and this board gets even more restless.

Then florence is the final headliner, and we've been guessing it all along.

I meant it in the case that we're left with one headliner that we are guessing for ages an it turns out to be someone that was suggested ages ago.

I get what you mean but I just thought it a bit forward in saying that we 'have' two headliners :P

I hope it doesn't end up like last year again as it was going a bit crackers and people were saying Glastonbury needed a third headliner to save the festival.

I think one could go stir crazy if taking this headliner thread to seriously.

IF it's announced on the same day as it was last year (equivalent of) then we're looking at 3rd April.

60 days to wait. The way some people talk I fear self combustion by that point...

I have a feeling that in years to come GF will be lots less about the main stage headliners - the Eavii keep dropping hints and there are less 'big' acts aroundand that pool will only ever get smaller.

I can see in 5 years or so headliners being a lot less established than in the past.
