oh for fuck's sake. methinks the original headliner fell through and they had to give ol' Chris a call to come to the rescue

disappointing, but that's one night that i definitely don't have to be at the Pyramid! i don't hate Coldplay; i just have no desire to see them. fingers crossed for something banging on Other (or elsewhere)

seems likely, Mac and AC/DC turned them down?

definitely one of (if not both)

i was actually kind of dreading potentially being at the Pyramid for all three nights this year, so whilst it would've been great for Prince or somebody to be there, at least this gives me a definite reason to be elsewhere. silver linings!

I really enjoyed them last time, i was quite surprised just how much to be honest but that last album is dire.

The thought of watching them play 5 or 6 from that plus some from the new album is far from appealing.

If it was to be their last ever gig, that could be something special but no way it will be. If the new album is their last, they'll milk that with stadium gigs for at least another gull year aftet Glastonbury.

Gotta have a loo break at some point so The Vaccines wouldn't be so annoying, I guess.

Only problem is, every single one of those acts is very very Radio 1, there's bound to be some weirdo like Nick Cave or something thrown in one of those slots to balance it out.

Weirdo? WEIRDO?

Get out.

Anyone else agree that it could be worse? I can give or take Coldplay happy to watch them if there isn't anyone else who takes my fancy

i'd rather some absolute tripe like Linkin Park headlined rather than the same old boring bands being booked over and over. at least it would be something new that i could ignore.

Muse again next year i guess?

It's a bit early for the Eavii to be panicking and turning to their safety net no?

Was Mumford not a last resort? We didn't really hear about that until April time (I think, may have been slightly earlier), despite speculation.

This doesn't feel like a panic booking but maybe that's just me!

IF it's their last thing as such (they aren't playing anywhere else as far as I'm aware) then I say fair enough. Any band that could only envisage finishing their career with a headline set at my favourite festival, having (like it or lump it) nailed it previously, probably deserve the chance.

Massive 'if' of course, and I suspect a stadium tour and all that shite will follow this set.

I'm not a fan, but my son likes them and it's his first Glastonbury so he would be happy.

I wonder if this would be a panic booking because they are getting nervous they aren't getting the headliners they really want.

I'm sure there will be something better elsewhere.

Perfectly safe booking, a home banker for Glasto. Radio One will hype the fuck out of them, they'll get the confetti cannons out and everyone will leave the stage convinced they've had a special time.

Yeah, the coverage will be insufferable: "They are Glastonbury legends...it wouldn't be Glastonbury Festival without a bit of Coldplay...this is their record-breaking 4th time headlining...YOU CANNOT MISS THIS!" etc

not really, big acts will have their summer tours planned since last year. if Coldplay are touring and this isn't a once-off, then they will have been booked for Glastonbury well before Xmas too.

there is literally no chance that M&S were booked that late.
