Why are people saying 'resale should be easier'?

That makes no sense at all considering Coldplay are massive ticket sellers, and if the foos are there too there's gonna be a fight in the resale!

Because they think that everyone feels the same that they do.

Truth is though, every time Coldplay have played in the past it's prompted mass complaining on here. Then when the festival itself rolls around, they still attract an absolutely massive crowd.

Mumford wasn't a last resort. They went global that year.

Mumfords weren't a last resort. they were ginormous at the time; they will've been booked for a long time. this feels like all other options have been exhausted and they were at risk of not having a big third headliner. Eavis definitely hinted at either Fleetwood or AC/DC being one of the headliners right after the last festival, so looks like Coldplay are the big marquee act replacing them

Perhaps last resort is the wrong term but I thought they were originally going to sub and were then bumped up to headliner when they didn't have another option? Or have I remembered that wrong?

there was a rumour that they were going to sub the Stones, but considering Stones reportedly handpicked Primal Scream to be their sub (and Mumfords were also headlining TITP that year) i think we can write it off as just a rumour. they were always going to be the third headliner; people just didn't want to believe it (a bit like Taylor this year*)

* as i fully believe she'll be the Sunday headliner

Ah okay, fair enough! Remembered it wrong!

This is shaking my Swift faith, we all know she's not a typical Glastonbury headline act, maybe she's showing up as a "special guest" sub for Coldplay, after all, wasn't that Beyonce's original position before she was bumped up?

As more than one person has said, Coldplay have released two platinum-selling albums since they last played, with that number possibly being added to before June. It's different to, say, Blink 182 returning to Reading after exactly the same time gap between these two Coldplay sets but having released barely anything in between. End of the day, all festivals are having to repeat previous succesful bookings at the moment, this is just another example of Glastonbury having to climb down from one perch which previously being on left them so far ahead of the rest.

because its the "same old same old" I tweeted that phrase and that is only due to the reaction from my timeline, I do understand that they are a massive band so will still prove a massive draw....

apparently it was, but i dunno. that just seems like far too strong of a top two for Glastonbury to me

although if that is the case, it just means we've got another headliner coming which is at least exciting (even if it does end up being somebody terrible)

Blink released an album between their shows, and Glastonbury has a much more diverse pool to choose from than R&L's relatively limited demographic, also Glastonbury have had a fallow year in this time, it's only 2 fests since we last had Coldplay.

I think she will headline, after Jay- Z, Beyonce, Metallica, anyone can be a Glastonbury headliner so why not Swifty

On one hand, Taylor at Glastonbury will be great no matter what, and a sub spot means potential for a lovely sunset, and chance to fuck off and watch a Park/West Holts headliner to make it a really fucking mega night. On the other hand, she'd be much more limited in terms of going all out with the production of the show, have a shorter set, and it'd be to a crowd of Coldplay fans.

I can only see taylor subbing if they booked her after coldplay... but I think she'l headline

the taylor and coldplay info did come at pretty much the same time though... but I think she'l headline.

Honestly Matt, some of the theories, logic and predictions you come out with are crackers.

As safe as this booking is, I do think the masses will be arsed about such a quick turnaround for them headliners.
