Croke Park in Ireland (cap. 80,000) is holding a concert this summer (most likely in late May or June as there are sporting events for most of July and August).

Ed Sheeran was rumoured, but the radio station that originally announced the concert is saying that it will be Bruce Springsteen

http://www.98fm.com/Croke-Park-gig-is-sure-to-be-a-sellout-with-big-act-named

could he do Glastonbury again?

Im heard that also..........The guy never seems to leave Ireland!

I know there are a few Bruce Tramps on here but I would be annoyed if he was headlining again especially so soon...........

Why is there always such a conspiracy that 'unsuitable' or 'shit' headliners are only booked because someone pulled out or they couldn't get go they really wanted? Do people really still need to make excuses to convince themsleves that Glasto's standards aren't slipping, they only booked who they did because they had no other choice?

Objectively speaking Mumford were a perfectly decent headliner choice, given that they headlined T and played Hyde Park in the same year and are headlining R&L this year. They're a UK festival headline band. Kasabian had headlined every other major festival in the UK. They're a UK festival headline band. Coldplay may be dull as shit but as has been pointed out they've released two records since last headlining and are still very popular with the media partners (or whatever the term is) and their audience. It's highly likely that Coldplay are a first-choice, not a fallback option.

I listened to parachutes on the way in to work today, thinking there was at least one decent song on it.

It's fucking terrible from start to finish!

I cannot believe they headlined in 2002 on the back of that shite.

Awful stuff, and they've steadily declined since.

SHITE.

I could have told you that. Why do you own a copy?!

I think people find it hard to differentiate between wishlist first choices & realistic first choices. Glastonbury can only book what's available to them.

It doesn't help that a lot of people on here seem to view Glastonbury as some magical place that artists should jump at the chance of playing whenever they're asked. When in reality a lot of them (particularly big American acts) will just see it as another run of the mill festival, all be it one that doesn't pay as much as the other big ones do.

it's 6 years since he last headlined, the same as between Arctic Monkeys and the previous Coldplay headline appearances, so not that soon.

the concert will be announced on Friday anyway. speculation from some newspapers that there's the option of a 2nd night.

Coldplay, Springsteen and Foo Fighters would be very safe and uninspiring, although still no doubt very popular for most people.

So if the headliners are The Foos, Swift and Coldplay it will undoubtedly be the biggest "meh" coming from me in relation to a trifecta of headliners..............

Irrespective of taste there always seems to be something significant on the Pyramid. If the above happens..............well...............meh!

Last year we had Metallica

2013 The Stones

2011 U2

2010 Stevie

2009...............Enough said

2008 J zizzle

2007 The Who

2015?

Neil have you ever dropped a bollock with one of these announcements before? I certainly can't remember an "eFests understands" being wrong. Your lead on this one of your regular insiders?

as far as I can remember, nope - not with a headliner.

Not being an arse but didn't eFests understand Depeche Mode, Elbow & Fleetwood Mac would headline 2014?

That's not quite what was said. I said those bands had been lined up as headliners for 2014 before the 2013 fest. In addition, it said that as of that moment (publication time) it didn't look like Depeche Mode would be actually doing it, and that it's often the case that things arranged so far in advance isn't what happens.

So we didn't say "these will be the headliners", we said "these are what Michael has lined up at this moment in time but it might well change".

I assume/truly hope the people on the Coldplay forums know what they're talking about, but I also trust Neil (he got William Hill to pay for my Glastonbury ticket last year with his info :) ) so... Who knows?

my info is well sourced and I'm confident it's correct. I'll be more than mildly surprised if it isn't.

But all the same, it might be wrong. I don't get to find out for sure until Glasto announce the headliners.

Whilst I completely agree on the "meh", I suspect the Eavii will look at Swift as something significant. More in the way of Jay Z. A genre Pure pop (hip hop in J Z's case), that hasn't had a headliner. Beyonce whilst similar still had a bit more edge to her than singing "Shake it off".

just a note to put here ....

There's been mentions of Coldplay as a possibility in plenty of different publications, but as yet I've not seen anywhere stating with confidence that it's Coldplay.

If everything runs as it normally does, over the next few weeks publications everywhere will be talking about Coldplay as one of the headliners as a certainty.

It's normally the case that media everywhere take a statement by efests as on the money.

(so I bloody well hope we are on the money ).

This moment of madness has ruined your usually exemplary record.

I can only report what I saw and heard. Plus let's be honest, everyone's got a musical skeleton in their closet. Or two....or three....but let's not go into that here...is Kylie playing?....no wrong place to ask that....

How's it going anyway chief? I missed last year because of the birth of a child, not got a ticket this year (yet) so checking in for the first time.

Colour me surprised that Springsteen is gigging in Europe at all. ....

It's easy to differentiate between dreams and reality, but that doesn't mean it's not disappointing when you're hoping for a banquet and get offered a mouldy banana.
