I'd guess a lot would say:

Uptight

For once in my life

For me it was just wall to wall tunes.

Living for the city is my favourite Stevie Tune.

For Stevie Wonder? I wouldn't know either of those unless I heard them (just listened on Spotify), and even then I wouldn't be able to tell you the name. Same with Sir Duke.

The only two Stevie Wonder songs I know off the top of my head are Superstition and Signed, Sealed, Delivered

Pyramid headliners are always pants anyway. I'm just glad I got to see triumphant sets from The Rolling Stones and Arcade Fire on that stage, and I'm most hopeful to go back again to see Taylor Swift this year. But, really, given the choice, you'd rather see a band you love play on a stage where you can actually see and hear them, and the other people there actually like the band, and you didn't have to turn up an hour early to get in, and you don't spend an hour getting out afterwards. A lot of comments say Coldplay are a band for people who don't really listen to music, but big outdoor stages like the Pyramid are gigs for people who aren't really into live music, aren't they? It's a spectacle, a few great bands can make it their own, but in and of itself, the place is a bit of a fucking nightmare. Coldplay might be dull as balls on the music side, but they've nailed the spectacle, let 'em have it, watch Patti Smith on West Holts, everybody's happy.

Na, the big outdoor stages are for the acts that will draw a big crowd/create a lot of curiosity...........

Out of the 80,000 or so folk who can squeeze into that field Im sure a shed load of them are very much into live music............sure werent you there yourself a few times and that was not due to your relationship with gigs but due to the act.

I'm not saying I haven't been, or that I wont go again, but those big outdoor shows are as much about lights and fireworks and giant firebreathing animation chickens as the music, if not more so. Most of the gigs I go to are ones where I'm within spitting distance of the act, you can watch them play with their own two eyes, the Pyramid is very far removed from that, it's a carnival. Coldplay are perfectly competent at bringing big lights and lazers and getting people to chant along with them, regardless of how they are as musicians.

I's better than it's given credit for.

I think it is a great debut album that really showed their potential. Thinking about you is as good a song as they've ever written, even if it lacks the polish and musical mastery of some of their later works.

To be honest I love all their albums in different ways, although I've still not come to love KoL I've found that sometimes a Radiohead album takes 2 or 3 years to click with me, sometimes it is instant love. I thought Kid A was the sound of them disappearing up their own backsides once, now I recognise that it has some of their best songs.

Seen Oasis in many a big field and don't remember any fancy lights, lasers or fireworks.

Does anyone prefer Pablo Honey? I think it's every bit as good as what followed

Yes. Pablo Honey was awesome. the Bends was pretty pretty good. then it all went down hill......rapidly and ended up in a pile of muck that is King of Limbs.....

I've probably heard them. I couldn't tell you what they sound like or that they were Stevie Wonder though.

I also didn't know any Jay-Z songs when he was announced.

If you don't know Stevie Wonder's stuff, who do you know?

That sounds arsey, I don't mean it to, I am actually intrigued. Probably because for me he is in my top 5 acts ever. When he was announced I couldn't believe it. Hw is someone me and all my mates had grown up hearing all the time.

I would guess most if not the vast majority of people who see a gig at the Pyramid would prefer it to be on a smaller stage where it is a lot more intimate.

However you just aint going to get the Stones playing the Acoustic stage or Arcade Fire playing John Peel............They are too popular

I think it's better than OK Computer purely because it doesn't have the disgrace that is Fitter Happier - the biggest waste of two minutes ever.

I actually don't kind In Rainbows I thought time was looking up until they hit us with king of the limbs

At no point did I ask for Stones or Arcade Fire on John Peel, I'm well aware of why big acts need to be on the Pyramid, I think you've missed what I'm trying to say. My point is that the Pyramid experience is not your typical live music experience, Glastonbury is full of people who don't go to see bands the rest of the year, those people turn up for the big spectacle on the Pyramid. Sometimes that spectacle is good (in the case of The Stones and Arcade Fire), but if you're not into the band playing, and you like live music, why get upset about it? The Pyramid is not the be all end all of live music, it's actually a much different beast to what 99% of live shows are, and if that's your thing, you're far more likely to get it on the smaller stages than the Pyramid. The Pyramid is there for people to chant together and wave glowsticks, that's absolutely fine, there's room in the fest for all sorts.
