the king of limbs songs are amazing live and comfortably stand alongside all their other stuff, but I never listen to the studio version. The live from the basement king of limbs album is really good though.

I love King of Limbs now, but it was the basement tracks that made the rest of the album finally click for me. I think it might be my second favourite now, after In Rainbows

*ducks to avoid ire of OK Computer fans*

Go see something else, there's plenty on. You can see most of shit on the Pyramid stage at every other major festival, if you waste time on that and miss the other stuff you'll regret it more than vice versa.

Ive every intention of seeing something else. Im only going to have a very short list of acts i think i need to see (1 or 2 a day) plan on spending the rest of the weekend exploring the festival and hope to stumbbling into other great acts. At most of the festivals i attened in the past my musical highlight has been an act i didnt really know about before the festival

The thing is it is quite hard to be really involved with music and bypass lots of classics.

If you're in the school band or orchestra or just having lessons on an instrument then a lot of the beatles etc is rearranged for various things.

It isnt about being self righteous at all, at primary school we had monday afternoon singing practice which would consist of the entire junior school belting out hey jude. Its quite hard to avoid.

But no one's said they don't know the huge Beatles songs you sing in singing practice or whatever.

And I'm not saying knowing the songs is self-righteous, just that all the Beatles-obsessed young people I know are the kind that baulk at you liking music that isn't classic rock - the kind that think all hip-hop or dance music is shite and not "proper" music, for instance.

I haven't really listened to much by The Beatles, because the songs I do know I'm not that fussed about. I'd much sooner delve into the back catalogues of bands which I hear a few songs by and love, as I did with acts such as The Cure, Led Zeppelin and Nick Cave once I became a teenager.

So with Betting reopened, any ideas on what day Coldplay are on? Wouldn't mind a flutter at 3/1 on Foos being saturday night headliner!

i'd assume it'd be Foos Friday, Coldplay Saturday, Swift Sunday if those are our three headliners - was just about to chuck a bit on Coldplay but betting has been suspended on them. bollocks

I was just thinking about this and I reckon the people who say "The Beatles are shit/overrated" are moreso the ones that have pretentious tastes because, I mean, it's the most popular band of all time so who's going around bragging that they know album tracks from an album thats sold tens of millions around the world?

That's not pointed at you though. You're free to like whatever.

Perhaps, but I'm not saying they're pretentious, just that they seem to be very condescending of other tastes.

Grumble on my behalf there. 3/1 would be ideal for a quick £100, but if we're leaning towards Coldplay, i shan't bother!

When I was younger I used to think the Beatles were shit. Mainly because had never heard a massive chunk of what they did. There are a lot of Beatles songs I still can't stand, but loads I love.
