russycarps
a couple of people shouting "play Creep!" at Leeds does not spell the downfall for the band. People were doing that in 97! And people were shouting "play the beatles!" at macca every time he did a wings song... Radiohead will be the last great headliner before the festival slips into complete mediocrity (in terms of who headlines the main stage)
The Nal
Theres no Radiohead "downfall". Just that their new stuff doesnt have the broad appeal needed to headline the Pyramid Stage. Again.

Again. In rainbows has much more broad appeal than kid a, amnesiac and hail to the thief and they headlined in 2003 on the back of those albums - and brought the house down. king of limbs does not mean they are no longer headline material. That's just mental.

Which is just preposterous to suggest
strummer77
They would storm it if they played the Reading 2009 set.

Radiohead will be the last great headliner before the festival slips into complete mediocrity (in terms of who headlines the main stage) You conveniently ignored the part about the crowd "visibly thinning" which is my point. That is complete profanity, up there with the most ridiculous things I've ever seen I love Radiohead fans. They would storm it if they played the Reading 2009 set. Well they didn't at Reading! Not amongst the non Radiohead fans. One or two older tunes aside. Once the casual festie goers left the crowd (Radioheads fans) tightened up and the atmosphere picked up. Glasto these days is about Beyonce, Mumford and Sons, Dolly Parton etc. The broader crowd have no interest in compressed dot music played live. As interesting as it is. Frankly Mr Shankly
Theres no Radiohead "downfall". Just that their new stuff doesnt have the broad appeal needed to headline the Pyramid Stage. Again. I disagree. I saw them play a 'new stuff' heavy setlist when they headlined Optimus Alive in Portugal & it went down a storm. By far the biggest & liveliest crowd of the weekend. They hadn't played in the country for years previous either, so a good majority of the crowd would have been expecting 'the hits'.
mrtourette
They would storm it if they played the Reading 2009 set. Yeah the light show was pretty good. Based on that clearly still Pyramid headliner material.
russycarps
You conveniently ignored the part about the crowd "visibly thinning" which is my point. it's Leeds crowd! The arcade fire crowd there was the smallest crowd the festival has ever had by all accounts, yet they stormed it at glastonbury. Those pricks are only pleased by dung like blink 182 etc You're all over the place here chum. Edited February 5, 2015 by russycarps

Arcade Fires crowd thinned out too last year (it wasn't huge to begin with) and I found the majority of their set really boring. I thought there were a lot more people there when they played the Other Stage in 07. Edited February 5, 2015 by The Nal

CaledonianGonzo
I like that one that The Arcade Fire do from their new album. But I'm not sure why they had to play it 7 or 8 times during their set last year. *drops mic, walks offstage*
Mezhyp1
You conveniently ignored the part about the crowd "visibly thinning" which is my point. I love Radiohead fans. I'm not a particularly massive Radiohead fan, I've seen them a couple of times and always been massively impressed, I just can't get my head round the fact someone can argue against them being pyramid headliner material And the crowd at R/L, let's face it, is completely shit, and getting worse

I'm just baffled by why a bands suitability for glastonbury is being judged by the reception they received from a leeds crowd. especially when the band in question has put in 2 of the best headline slots of all time. Wooderson
Theres no accounting for taste. But to state Radiohead ain't a suitable Glasters headliner is madness.

Do you really think In Rainbows and TKOL stuff will work to a Pyramid crowd now? 30 minute runs of Nude, Give up the Ghost, 15 step, Feral, Reckoner, Bodysnathers etc? Ive noticed a huge change in Glasto crowds in the last few years. Much much more casual. My point is that the field would be rammed.... to start.... Wooderson
IMO Reckoner is their best song.

The Nal
IMO Reckoner is their best song. You could be right. But Reign in Blood is probably Slayers best song. Anyway my original point. Theyve already headlined twice! And people want them again every year! Fucking lazy bastards.
