Its more.. why can't people realise that Festivals can only book who they can book

it's like... there's probably a massive reason why AC/DC, Fleetwood Mac, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Prince etc aren't playing... and it's probably not glastonbury choosing not to book them.

just can't believe they've had Mumford & Sons and Kasabian headline and they are complaining about Foo Fighters and Kanye West whom are both bigger than last year's trio already.

don't let it get to you

All this talk of nationality is utterly ridiculous.

But, what was the quote that was being banded around a little while back from one of the Eavii that was to do with someone bring British but the band being from overseas?

Is that not relevant anymore? Did I just make it up in a dream?

As a newbee to Glasto last year I had already judged the festival based on who the headliners were and completely disregarded what people said about it being amazing in a thousand different ways.

So I can understand why (WRONGLY) people are throwing their toys out the pram about Kanye.

Having been and had the time of my life last year, seeing 2/3 of the Pyramid headliners, it taught me that having a good headliner is a bonus but doesn't have the slightest impact on your whole experience.

Regardless of personal opinions Glasto has done amazingly well in booking their headliners.

To get Foo's (surely the most universally loved rock band out there at the moment) when surely there was major competition to get them first.

Kanye is a fantastic booking too considering most of the world knows who he is, he's current, controversial, people talk about him... great publicity!

And if Taylor is set for the Sunday they have arguably booked the biggest current female pop star in the world right now.

They would have done this paying them a ridiculously low sum compared to other headliners at other major festivals in the UK. If anything these bookings have shown just how amazing Glasto is and how much muscle they have without being able to splash the cash.

Sorry, yeah, you're right, there should be a 'some of' in there

Yer I'm against a quota for women for Glastonbury but that's just because I'm against quotas for Glastonbury not because it hurts my masculinity women being there. I'd be perfectly fine with 3 female headliners provided that they weren't gash

just as I would be perfectly fine with 3 white boys with guitars or 3 americans

I almost want her to headline on Sunday just for that reason. In all honesty, I expect GF fully predict the shitstorm that will occur as a result of not announcing white men with guitars, and good on them for staring the c**ts in the eye and wishing them away. GF no longer needs tthem or their archaic attitude, and the rest of us are better off without them as well.

When did Foo Fighters become black and give up their guitars exactly? :P

Peculiar post indeed.

Haha, you know, i was pretty disapponted with this news last night, but i've changed my mind completely. if it's getting all these morons in a tizz, then its got to be a good thing.

This ^^ - nicely put Mardy.

There's a lot I can find wrong with Kanye's booking, but at the same time I know he'll go down well with many, in much the way every other headliner always does. And that tells me it can't be a bad booking.

Glastonbury has always been a 'pop' festival anyway - and pop is more than just white blokes with guitars.

You're making the mistake of thinking that the rabid overreaction of negativity towards Kanye is tolerant of alternative artists on any night. Not so - that lot won't be happy unless every single headliner correctly conforms to their narrow, bigoted view of musical quality. Fuck them and their Hampton house(s).

Agreed. I happen to like his stuff, but even if I didn't, anything that brings these people crawling out of the woodwork and scuttling away from the festival gets a thumbs up from me.

Nope, he did say that, and the general feeling was that it was Fleetwood Mac

Who instead chose IOW

I'm sorry Lawn and Martin but it's not gunna be Taylor headlining the Sunday. It can't be. Likelihood is it will be British and if it's not it won't be Taylor. She's too young and it just doesn't fit.

I'm all for her playing but will be subbing or maybe 3rd down.

'she's young and it just doesn't fit' - what?

Ha. But c'mon seriously. Taylor Swift closing the festival. I can't say that without laughing, it just doesn't seem right to me. V.confident it won't be her.

not nearly as hilarious as Mumford & Sons closing the festival. maybe she won't headline, but i wouldn't totally write her off. stranger things have happened

The question is whether she'd take a sub slot to a major British group. She claims to love us Brits, but could her ego/management take her subbing to Blur?

I think she'd be happy with subbing Blur. Don't know much about her but doesn't seem like too much of a diva or anything to me?

business woman, and a savvy one..think she will go with whatever gives her most exposure AND allows her to do 4 nights on the trot, so could be on for a sub on sunday
