There is no format. Look at 2009.

but if you look at 2011, 2013 and 2014 they all seem to have that format, could it not be a new thing? i don't know, maybe they're trying to appeal to a younger audience with the future in mind, could be a reason they wouldn't have fleetwood mac and ACDC on the same bill despite the success of both

Coldplay weren't really a new band for the young audience in 2011.

You could say exactly the same about 2005, 2007 and 2008, and then they went and booked the 2009 set regardless. They're not going to turn legendary acts away because they happen to be up for it in the same year and it doesn't fit some spurious 'format'.

I'd be intrigued to see Lady Gaga on the Pyramid after what she's done/achieved/how she's grown, since 2008 when she didn't even headline the Other Stage. I think visually it'd be bloody impressive with Gaga's crazy mind having an influence on the set. I think from a sound point of view it'd still be good, but perhaps she's dipped in popularity of sales etc.

I watched an interview of her the other day (about seven/eight months ago). And she really thought incredibly deeply when answering the question she was asked (like oddly so) there were massive pauses such as 2/3 minutes of silence. She definitely isn't a boring person.

I think she could occupy a Sunday headline set pretty well. But I think she'd maybe ask the Eavises for a bit too high a sum for the slot though.

fleetwood mac - tbc

pharell - Im gonan stick my neck out and say he will be booked. might even flutter some money on it unless neil has something to the contrary.i honestly think it would be silly not to book him while he's cresting the wave and at the peak of his career. Could feature lots of guests and hits... gauranteed crowd pleaser.

foo fighters - there's meant to be a 'heavy' act. can only see it being these boys... hope its not muse. im happy with 2010 being the last time i see them as it was great set... but the music since has been pish!

it's not my top headliners who I'd go and see and i'd maybe only watch 1/2 of them depending on other acts... but pretty good, balanced lineup... maybe needs a UK act though i nwhich case I'd say Muse. radiohead in 2016 (with full orchestra... that would be amazing) I say as its too soon next year with all the solo projects still floating about.

No 100% British band?

why is there "meant to be a heavy act"?

There's absolutely nothing to suggest that other than a couple of names being thrown around as rumours this year are heavier acts, partly due to suggestions of their touring plans and partly cos Metallica played last year.

I'd say that the fact of Metallica having played last year makes a heavier act the least likely of all, on the simple balance of probabilities around what Glasto normally do.

Of course, the only options for them to book are suitably-big bands that are available to book, so that might cause them to book a heavier act. But I reckon that would be their least preferred direction for this year.

....especially considering the tiny metallica crowd. Hardly a roaring success.

Metallica was a qualified success, I'd say. Small crowd, but a general thumbs up from the media and those that lasted for the full gig.

They were wasted on the pyramid though. That crowd would have comfortably fitted into the other stage. So in that respect it was a failure on the pyramid.

I know they were originally intended to go on the other stage, so it's not the bookers fault. But surely they proved that "heavy" music has no place on the pyramid.
