tricho
It depends, it is a pretty iconic album. They were on hiatus, which added to the mystique. Ian Brown was reasonably successful so the public appitite for them didn't decrease. 1 album might not if you put it like that, but the fact I'd guess 80,000 people would watch them on the pyramid does. (I do like the second album though) Thanks for the info. My buddy and i are a little confused. 2 Albums... none of them topped the charts (fair enough.. charts dont say much about music quality) .... Doesnt seem like they have been such a big thing in Germany compared to Oasis. Maybe i will have to listen to that album to understand whats going on. =)
Guy Incognito
Fleetwood Mac seems to essentially be TBC. And why's this?

Thelips
And that does make them a 100 % Glasto Head? 1 old album? I don't disagree with this. The band has lived of this 25 year old album their whole career without doing anything else. Now I still think it's a great album but it amazes me how legendary status can be achieved by a career of one great album and one half decent album. They are a band who influenced a lot. The Album is iconic in the way Nevermind the Bollocks by the Sex Pistols is. Very much of it's time I think, but that's because it defines the era. ghandi
I'd say " Fools Gold" was a top album of the time and yes you could say it was a classic, but I would put it in the same class as say "Screamadelica", when Primal Scream re toured that they headlined the Other, I'd say that's where The Stone Roses were IMO. SloopJohnB
Someone said they'd donate a large amount of money to charity if it didn't happen, indeed. The clock is ticking. Only if he had any in his bank account haha

Matt42
The roses completely passed me by, guess I was born at the wrong time. I try and listen to their stuff but apart from fools gold it doesn't do much for me... I guess its a nostalgia + 'you had to be alive at the time' + 'you just don't geddit' thing but I'm totally fine with that. I kinda want a night away from the pyramid this year so I hope those who really want them to play have their wishes come true.

I was there at the time and loved it 100%. Bucket hat, flares the full works. The thing with me was I got sick of waiting years for a follow up and inevitably got into different things and very quickly moved on. If they play, and in my opinion there is no chance, it would simply be for nostalgia which I'm not into at all. I've never been to a reunion show in my life and whilst I don't disagree with them it's just not my thing. As I said earlier I was a huge roses fan but even as a non hip hop fan, Kanye would be the better booking imo.
ghandi
I'd Quote this Wooderson, but for some reason the PC I'm on at work won't let me? Anyway I have had a Cappuccino a little while ago so perhaps for something stronger , but seriously at the time Screamadelica got to me more as I was in my clubbing faze, and although Fools Gold was good I like Screamadelica more, having said all that I didn't see the Other stage performance of it because of the storming rain that night
Frankly Mr Shankly
Just to be pedantic, the album isn't called 'Fools Gold'.
russycarps
And that does make them a 100 % Glasto Head? 1 old album? they were also lined up to headline in 1995 but pulled out, so there is an element of "unfinished business" about them. I think michael eavis himself has said that one day they must play. But it's true, if you werent around at the start of the 90s, fizzing at the mouth on super strength pills, then you probably wont get it. A lot of people groped their first tit while that album played.

Mani and Reni being rhythm nirvana whilst Squire fucks about randomly out of time over the top. The first 1:40 of that is pure awful, just as bad as the w*nkery he did live on the 2nd Coming tour. EDIT: I'm a big fan of that second album, but I just wish they'd have played the bloody songs, not do some shit jam with the Day Tripper riff randomly thrown in where it doesn't fit.
