Space Shanty
I see no reason why the Roses wouldn't put on a brilliant show. I remember seeing them headline Feile in 1995 shortly before they split and it was awful, but I really enjoyed the show in 2012 so there is no doubt they have it in them to produce something special. There is the bit of unfinished business I suppose, but regardless of that, a seminal band who had a big impact on a lot of people of my generation should be on the list of Glasto headliners somewhere. It's just not right until they do it
Doug85
the roses at heaton park was one of the best gigs i've ever been to. those gigs will go down in history for everyone who attended. im sure a lot of those people will be at glastonbury so they would absolutely headline if they were signed. Hugh Jass
Im a bit wary of the roses.....I get the massive appeal to people really into the madchester scene, and they have some classic tunes and their superfans rave about them all the time.........but well someone else mentioned primal scream....and you could say the same for them, I knew of them but other then the obvious tracks hadnt heard much of theirs but I went to check them out when they played in 2013 simply because of the hype surrounding them and there so called `legendary` status........and to be honest guys....they were shit! ...one of the worst festival sets ive seen....they were so dull I walked off after 3 songs they had no energy no reaction from the crowd, they didnt even `look` like they wanted to be there........if thats what happens to legendary bands this far down the line from their peak populairty I wouldnt want to see the roses as from what others have said its a long time since they were at their peak so I can imagine the same thing happening. It's really not comparable, Primal Scream were rubbish subbing in a slot where they knew no-one was that bothered - all waiting for the Stones and had a huge sulk abou it. The Roses would be headlining and based on their comeback shows would do a fantastic job with a crowd bang up for it.
wrongturn
Yep, it's not about the headliners blah blah blah but those 2 whoppers would be a real statement about the festivals future intentions. I dont mean to be rude, but a festival overrun with people who like those sort of acts is not one I would want to attend. Wireless and Radio 1 weekend look bloody awful. This is my feeling aswell
Space Shanty
Oh id love to see them just on reputation, I like some of their tracks and id like to see what all the fuss was about tbh esp as I have mates who are die hard ian brown fans including the guys im camping with so ill most likly get dragged along anyway......BUT it sounds like the modern roses have a lot of issues from what people have said on here and they do sound like one of those bands that only got back together when they ran out of money rather then for any love of their music...........thinking that, would they do their legacy justice? or would they flop like primal scream did? A lot of their gigs three years ago were a lot better than the majority of gigs where they were in their heyday, so I see no worries about doing the music justice. I can genuinely see no reason not to do it, other than the potential danger to my own health from loving it

Primal Scream dont always flop dude...they are however hit and miss, seen them loads of times, some gigs were amazing, blown away like, but then a few other times they were dreadful. Suppose the 2013 set was one of them dreadful sets, I wasn't there that year, so only going on what people on here said. Swastika Eyes is a joy to behold when they are form

Boopickledaddy
maybe just got them on an off day then....they just really didnt look into it or their music at all...and the crowd could tell so they got no reaction either......I was pissed off with myself for choosing to wait for that rubbish as it meant I missed seeing johnny marr on john peel who was clashing with them for a bit. Agreed, I also think they played better live when they had Mani with them

JoeyT
So when is this meant to be happening on Friday? Morning? Evening? I cant concentrate with work. No one said anything about Friday did they?!

eastynh
it's a pretty damn good album, but i share your views - especially as they've already toured the hell out of it / their reunion. IF they were headlining, i suppose we're assuming they'd have a new album out by then, but, much like Blur, who the hell wants to hear any of that played live? very few i bet ?????? Fools Gold was a double A side with What the World is Waiting For. It was not an any album.
Justiceforcedave
So this is still wild speculation right? Is there anything other than mr "95% sure" and Mike999 to say that the Roses could play?

ericlered
A large number of foodbank users would not need a foodbank if a) they did what was agreed with their JCP advisor and kept to their job application quotas and attended interviews, then they would not get sanctioned and would not need a foodbank or didn't waste their money on non essentials like big tv's, sky HD, drink, cigarettes, gambling etc, then they would have enough money for food It is impossible to deny a and b exist, i know more than 1 person in each catergory, everyone does near enough If it was down to me foodbanks would be banned for everyone except people who have passed a strict means test and have passed a home inspection to see there is no Sky, big tv, iphone, beer cans, cigarettes etc Scary. Some people are actually influenced by Tory propaganda. Edited March 19, 2015 by ericlered
Spindles
That 2013 Primals set was particularly poor, but also a good example of how hit and miss they are. They were amazing headlining the other stage in the pissing rain just 2 years before.
ltfckimbo
My least favourite part of that gig. Mani and Reni being rhythm nirvana whilst Squire fucks about randomly out of time over the top. The first 1:40 of that is pure awful, just as bad as the w*nkery he did live on the 2nd Coming tour. EDIT: I'm a big fan of that second album, but I just wish they'd have played the bloody songs, not do some shit jam with the Day Tripper riff randomly thrown in where it doesn't fit. You have no soul. And no drugs.

JoeyT
I do think the next announcement we get will be a line up poster however I think this week is less likely than next or the week after.
