honestly, if IOW does have Blur (which i think they do), Prince is the only one (for me) who could come close (and even then it'd be a matter of taste). i'd also love it to be Taylor but she's hardly a crowd pleaser, especially with Kanye in the mix. she can sub Prince (and Flo can sub Foos, and another big female act can sub Kanye - that'd be getting one over on IOW)

I 100% agree with all of this. I feel like if IOW have Blur, Glasto having Taylor would be a little too divisive? If people hate on Kanye, I imagine people will hate on her too. I'd love her to be there, but I can't picture it happening unless she subs.

How is Ian's voice at the moment? They were a quality band, my only doubt if they're still up to Eavis standard for live performance for heading Pyra. Not staying the likes of Kasabian or Mumfords have better tracks

hard to say really considering he/they haven't done anything for ages. i never saw them on the reunion but reports vary massively from gig to gig - some days he sounds better than ever, others he sounds shocking

yeah that's what Neil thinks (which makes sense considering Emily brought up Flo herself when she really didn't need to etc). all very mysterious this year. i both love and hate it. gonna be the most intense lineup day ever

Yeah exactly. It's not a case of 'bad music' or anything like that. It's not a nationality issue, or a 'men with guitars' thing, I just can't see them getting Kanye and Taylor as the headliners. In my gut I just feel like it has to be someone like Blur/Oasis (obviously not though)/Stone Roses/maybe even P*****, but having two current 'mainstream' chart-topping artists isn't what I pictured as happening.

yeah as much as i love both acts and it wouldn't bother me, the reaction to Kanye proves that people are just, for some reason, not cool with non-guitar acts headlining, so to have two of them in one year would piss a lot of people off. i get that a lot of the negativity towards Kanye is more to do with his personal life than his music, but i think Taylor headlining would just cause too much bother

It will take time for the boom to cover the whole country, but, we have raised the tax threshold to 11k which means the poorest people and lowest earners are paying no tax at all, we have put up the minimum wage above inflation, so even the poorest are a lot better off than they were 5 years ago, the last government even scrapped the 10p rate for the poor making even the poorest pay 23p in tax, we are the party of the poor as well as the rich

yeah once is enough, I dont think swift will headline for that reason, the eavis`s know their key audience, willing to accept something different and a change of pace for one night....but not to the point of turning it into v fest with a pop act headlining multiple nights on the mainstage....and right on I say. I dont want to see glasto turn into another `top 40 hits mean you get to headline` festival, we have pleanty of them already.

I think they should take a stick of dynamite to the idea that it should be dominated by any one genre or flavour of music - ideally the place should be a shrine to eclecticism, where every genre can rub up against another. The dominance of indie rock has hindered the place, making it the preserve of dinosaurs.

And I say that as someone that wanted AC/DC to headline.

Yeah the way Emily said it (I think) was "Foo Fighters are our rock band this year" and of course there's more than one rock band every year but I don't think there's ever more than one that are considered 'heavy' so it puts paid to AC/DC or whoever but not just any band.

Not sure where you get this tripe from, when the last government removed the 10p band they also reduced basic rate tax from 22% to 20% which more than offset it. And let's face it the only reason tax allowances have increased during this parliament is down to the Lib Dem's not the tories. Party of the poor? Is this the comedy thread? Also who the heck is/are "we" ? are you that gideon c*** ?
