I am not after an argument fella , I am just genuinely interested. I find it hard to understand how someone who has sell out arena tours and high selling albums can be considered a weak headliner. Even with his solo stuff, his tours and albums have fared quite impressively.

Haha didn't mean it like that, was just using the phrase :P I know what you mean, I'm not sure if I'd view him as a weak headliner or not. I like his stuff and enjoyed him live, something just feels a bit underwhelming about him for me really.

Would they sell it out now though?

Dunno.

In answer to your main point, top-selling albums and arena tours doesn't necessarily make someone a top-tier festival headliner (Paolo Nutini being the prime example). I think there's a perception (whether rightly or wrongly) that Noel's success as a solo artist is largely off the back of being part of Oasis rather than on merit - until he can shake that tag off... meh.

Nah, not quite big enough for that. I'm not sure if his Clapham Calling gig will sell out and it's only 45000 capacity, which is I'd guess is 10-15000 less than somewhere like the Etihad?

The Etihad? In Manchester? I think he could with a decent promo team behind him.

Noels new stuff us just dull as hell. It'd be depressing if he ever headlined. I know it was depressing when kasabian etc headlined, but something about Noel just feels wrong. His music is so lifeless and formulaic. I hate it.

Just his new stuff? By my count, it's 20 years since his last album that wasn't shit.

Noel's headlining Summer In The City and Latitude, you'd never get Muse headlining those.

You might for Summer in the city if they were from manchester. He is by far the biggest act to have been on there, but I'd suggest he was the fantasy booking, so is charging nearly double on tickets. I bet he gets paid double too.

I really like his solo stuff but not so much an Oasis fan. However, I can only base it off the footage I've seen but he just comes across as a really dull frontman to be honest and not sure it would communicate too well over a Glastonbury headline slot, only the Oasis stuff he plays would balance it out for the crowd imo.

The sad thing is, I wouldn't put it past Noel selling out a stadium.

That's going a bit far! He hasn't even sold out Calling in London yet or his day at Latitude. If he could sell out the Etihad being from Manchester and a City do we not think that would've been on the table this year instead of a smaller Summer in the City gig?

Will the new Muse album outsell Noels effort in the UK? I honestly do not know how popular Muse are as I do not know anyone that likes them, but that is surely just a demographic thing. I keep reading Muse are definite headline material but Noel is not. Yet both Noel/Oasis have been around a similar amount of time as Muse, yet I can't believe for a second that Muse have sold anywhere near the amount of records which Noel has managed in the UK.

How does Noels solo efforts compare to the latest Muse efforts?

Muse will outsell ticket wise Noel no problem, the fact they haven't released anything decent enough since BH&R to sell stadiums is besides the point but then nor has Noel.

Do you understand what money is? Do you understand that an artist might choose one show over another if they're getting more money out of it? Do you understand that Noel would probably earn far more from a small festival going beyond their means to fund his performance than one stadium show where he would sell tickets for less, and he'd spend a lot promoting?

Cool. Also, Noel has more appeal up north compared to down south.

I think his gig at Summer In The City has more to with the fact it is a fantastic outdoor venue right in the middle of the City Center than his ability to sell tickets. Him and Johnny Marr on there is a pretty big thing really.

I just found it a bit mad really that people did not think Noel was big enough to be Glastonbury headliner yet Muse were, as from my experience Noel is far, far more popular in the UK than Muse.

For the record I find Noels solo stuff a bit lifeless and bland. But after giving Muse a listen to after prompting from peeps on here, I have to say I also found them totally uninspiring.

I'm not sure what people think summer in the city is from some of these comments - it's only 8,000 people in a reasonably small (great) venue. To put it into perspective courteeners did two (brilliant) sold out nights there. James did it and sold out, and pixies did not sell it out.

Muse will sell out the arena just like noel. I think the stadium question will be answered by how well the album is received but it's not out the question.

They have headlined every major festival going (latitude wouldn't have them as its for a more refined audience. I'm amazed they've let noel anywhere nearthe place considering the audience he attracts) so I think easily still big enough for Glastonbury

Yes I do lol. Have you seen who elsen is playing Summer in the City lol?, not exactly a massive money spinner I doubt and it was only £35 so half the price pf his normal shows, they can't afford to pay him a bomb.

What I did think it the people who own the Etihad have a fair bit of money. So do I think he could of chosen that when he's chose a similar sized venue in London? Yes

The Hives need to come back and higher up the bill, that gig was great.

I quite like the new Noel Gallagher track that's doing the rounds, sounds like an oasis b-side. There's much better music being recorded right now, but it's not as dull as his previous stuff for me.
