the wonderwhy
Me too, and the same with this biffy clyro fella. Can't remember ever hearing either of them. People get me to listen to all kinds of stuff however no one has ever put them on at parties, pubs, juke boxes or even playin at open mic nights. It seems no one i know has ever had the thought "what people need right now is a bit of biffy or the foos" You need to start going to better parties. stuartbert two hats
Quick, someone get on to the Eavii - bobsacamano has, by some sort of divine intervention, never heard a song by Foo Fighters or Biffy Clyro ever! Better disregard their blanket festival and radio coverage, huge sell out tours and general massive popularity, they're clearly not Pyramid headliners. It's so clear now. I hardly know any songs by them either, but I hardly ever listen to the radio. Although when Mrs Two Hats puts XFM on, I can usually recognise the Foos because the song is boring and Biffy because the song is rubbish. All my own personal opinion, of course. I'm sure the Foos are big enough to headline and as for Biffy, I wouldn't know. I suppose people talk about them a lot. What I'm trying to say without disputing their right to headline is that their appeal and body of work has almost entirely passed me by. And I did try listening to the a Foos compilation a few weeks ago. Recognised that Hero song. So, bobsacamano isn't the only one.
dentalplan
I think they'll do IOW I think IOW is probably least likely of all the major festivals what with Giddings not booking headliners that are doing big London shows.
Perks
Genuinely surprised by people not knowing Foos songs. I'm not a huge fan by any means but I know absolutely tons. They're always on the radio, in film soundtracks and the like. What about Hero? And Everlong, an absolute stonker of a tune. I'd see them for that alone; I bloody love that song. Strongly agree. Everlong is immense. I saw the Foos back in 98. It was absolutely class. Used to love them, but their newer stuff got a bit stale for me. Still think they'd be a great headliner, but I'd prob be somewhere else, don't wanna ruin the memory of the 98 gig!!

I never made any comment on if they were good or not (how could i) or if they should should headline or not (as i wouldnt have a clue). It was part of an ongoing discussion in this thread about if the foo's, prince etc had more recognisable songs. No need to get your knickers in a twist, chill dude

the wonderwhy
I think IOW is probably least likely of all the major festivals what with Giddings not booking headliners that are doing big London shows. He said that but went back on it, and is likely to do the same thing if he gets a shot at Foo's.
dentalplan
He said that but went back on it, and is likely to do the same thing if he gets a shot at Foo's. I don't think he did. He only said that after fucking up in 2013 and none did this year.
Matt42
I would say that Arctics would be front runners for IOW, but since it seems after this year they are taking a break they are out of the question. Kasabian will probably do IOW, Dunno who else would do it... Kasabian, The Who and someone probably quite mainstream.
GuitarManDan15
Saying the foos have the same number of recognisable hits as prince is very odd. My son occasionally like the 'greatest hits' of the foos on in the car, I recognise about 7 of them and its a single album. Now granted I am a prince fan but even casual listeners I drag along to concerts will know most of a 2 hour set. Led Zep, again older people will know a lot but younger people maybe about 5 though they may not know the titles (sad times). Perhaps its an age thing? I'm in my twenties and i saw prince do a 'greatest hits' set and knew 3/4 songs. Whilst I could name you a lot more foo fighters song... same with my friends and none of us are super fans of either

home to you
The Pretender had sooo much radio/TV play too. They have a load of highly recognisable songs. I can't say I'd know much from a Prince set but again that must be an age thing
dentalplan
KOL did a bunch of huge mainland shows this summer. None in London which backs up what Giddings said.
the wonderwhy
None in London which backs up what Giddings said. If you're going to be pedantic about the London bit, then yeah Stadium shows (I think they were stadium shows, one of them was MK Bowl) all around the UK is going to be worse for ticket sales than a single date in London anyhow. It isn't pedantic though. What Giddings said was that he didn't want to book bands with big London shows. SonOfTroyMcClure
So now that people have/haven't got tickets: Prince. Daft Punk. Led Zeppelin. Discuss. CaledonianGonzo
Fairly sure I read on a fan message board that Adam Lambert is expected to be releasing / touring a solo album over the summer, which might put the kibosh on Queen. Matt42
Fleetwood Mac, Muse, Foo Fighters would be lovely Fleetwood Mac, Muse, Radiohead would be a dream. either way, I think we're up for a good trio next year. Fleetwood Mac, Muse, Rihanna wouldn't be too bad either. Edited October 5, 2014 by Matt42

'Queen' would be shite anyway. If folk want to see tribute bands, they've got Glastonbudget for that.
cassiel1972
My fond hope . . . and I know how unlikely this is, but I want to put it out there anyway . . . is Kate Bush.
