No chance half way back for the XX was quite spread out. Elton was the most packed I've seen people had to climb on the bars.

I was nearish to the sound stage for Elton and it wasn't particularly packed out, but I guess sometimes that happens in crowds, get some bottlenecks further out and it doesn't seem too bad further in, had a similar thing with The Prodigy, seemed packed until you got toward the first barrier then it was a lot more sparse

Don't know about you but I was going crazy over them when I was 13/14

I just feel now that I know bands who do what they did better? If you get me? But when I was freshly a teenager they were one of the forefronts when the inevtiable 'I love indie' stage starts.

The XX released their first album what, 5 years ago?! And you were 13/14 then? I'm sure I've seen you say somewhere that you're in your twenties?

Not a truer word could be spoken, crowds are a fickle beast. Every year I think I crack them with new techniques and every year they throw up some surprises. I bet everyone has their own action plan. There's a research opportunity in the formation of music crowds.. If only I had the time

I think sometimes everyone just assumes it'll be packed at the front so hang a bit further back.

I have a system for Brixton Academy now and the Big Top at Bestival, always starts to free up once you get past the first few metres or so, can just be a pain to get through, a pain to get out and only so many times me sheepishly saying 'I'm really sorry, I couldn't just squeeze past could I?' can happen before i feel like I'm annoying everyone around me

i guarantee you that most people who'd consider themselves in any way fans of music know Purple Rain, Kiss, I Would Die 4 U, When Doves Cry, Raspberry Beret, Little Red Corvette, I Wanna Be Your Lover, 1999, Let's Go Crazy... the list is endless.

The ironic thing about this is that anyone who considered themselves 'a fan of music' when he was current and releasing those records would have considered them all to be tacky pop shite. Now, despite not really adding anything of note to that list he's some sort of legend to some of today's 'fans of music'. Its like fucking Springsteen allover again!
