When did SP sub glaatonbury and they haven't been a major headliner since the 90s, so i assume you mean the 90s sometime and not last year when they subbed the other stage?

They headlined Leeds around 2007ish, but I agree that they weren't a festival headliner last year.

I wonder if we get a headliner revealed this year ? Arcade fire was December 2013

Didn't the band put it on their website in error, So then Emily confirmed it?

2014 was a strange year for acts being announced, headliners or otherwise. Up to the poster during the balance payment week, we only knew of Arcade Fire and Dolly (a few more from reading this site, but nothing much from artists or the festival itself)

With Metallica not being confirmed til late April, it was a strange year.

Am I wrong or was it not all to tie in with Arcade Fire your plans, with the Reflektrors gigs and thag I'm sure it was at their request it was announced

Im pretty sure it was cos the AF facebook posted a photo with their festival dates which included Glastonbury. It was then taken dowm but they were confirmed a few minutes later. All seemed too rushed for a planned announcement.

Didn't they give a big hint about having to wear wellies when pressed about playing festivals, that was on radio 1

Yeah, I guess a lot of that was due to uncertainty and people being moved around and bookings changing really late, hence Metallica being switched from the Other Stage, and Jake Bugg's promotion to Other headliner.

As of 8pm yesterday evening he's now known as Jake 'Lalala-la' Bugg.

hehehehe. They should have put him in the bubble in that video instead of Kylie, just so we could watch it being burst in front of our eyes.

I didn't say they subbed the Pyramid, but they are a headline act at most UK festivals, but didn't headline Glastonbury. That's what I meant.

I don't think they'd headline any festival, except maybe Sonisphere.

I doubt they'd even headline that unless sonisphere plan on cancelling another festival due to low ticket sales

SP are nowhere near the size they once where

To compare to Biffy Clyro, both bands were in Manchester last year, SP played a 2000 capacity venue (Academy 1 as they weren't big enough for the Apollo) whereas biffy sold out a 20000 capacity venue

Rock Wercther over in Belgium are moving their dates forward a week, to Glasto weekend, in order to "fit the schedule of one of the headliners"

Could be interesting

That's not necessarily anything related to Glastonbury tho, it could be the schedule of a non-Glasto playing band.

Tho i'd say the fact that they're prepared to move suggests it's a more-important headliner to Rock Wercther than most of their headliners (else they'd just get another band) - and of course there's not too many of those 'more-important' headline acts around.

Having just checked back, they didn't get AC/DC in 2010 so I reckon it's likely to be them.

If Werchter do have AC/DC on Glasto weekend, that suggests that Glastonbury probably haven't got AC/DC.

Do AC/DC Play consecutive gigs? If they don't then it probably does rule them out.

Yeah that was pretty much my line of thought.

That said, Wercther have a full day of music on the Thursday. Could be that AC/DC plan to do the Thursday in Belgium then the Saturday/Sunday at Glasto?

Fair point! I think this usually rules bands in than out, as werchter obviously moved to that date because the band is "active" then.

But it's an interesting development, exciting too! Looks like there's going to be a lot of big bands around next summer
