I'm thinking the Eavii will hold off on the line up announcement till after the payment window opens. Possibly wait to see the number of payments in the first couple of days, and have it up their sleeves to jump start the payments if its slow. If the numbers are all good, they can save it to fuel the re-sale.

They won't be concerned about ticket sales .. They could probably sell the festival out twice over again just with people trying for tickets in the resale.

I don't like this theory. But it's a good theory that makes the most sense

When was the last time all three headliners weren't announced before the full line up?

Probably very recent (was it even last year?!) .. But I can't seem to remember!

I rememeber Rolling Stones got announced with the full lineup as it was a big deal at the time. Last year evades me - Think we all knew the headliners beforehand didn't we?

Yeah, this is true, also suggests that they don't need to announce before the payment window either. Last week of April it is. :P

Still think it'll be announced before the payment window, they'll just get loads of complaints if they don't. Then if people hand back tickets and really like the lineup they'll get even more.

This makes a lot of sense. Especially with the apathy towards Kanye West.

I think we'll definitely get something before next week is through.

Even ignoring his American dates, it would be really strange to see an act that played third down headline the following year on the same album tour.

It'd be strange seeing an act play the Pyramid two years in a row full stop (Glastonbury Town Band excepted). It's quite rare the festival book the same act two consecutive years if they do any of the big stages down to Park/JP.

They won't be concerned about ticket sales .. They could probably sell the festival out twice over again just with people trying for tickets in the resale.

Thing is, 'probably' isn't good enough when one year of not selling out the festival means the whole thing potentially goes kaput. I'm sure they were confident 2008 would sell out after the proceeding 4 festivals all sold out in under a day. The market is fickle and things go in waves. I'm confident you're right too, but if I was them I'd take actions to make sure of it.

Agree that it has to come before the window closes, there'd be too much negativity from a press & public already steaming over Kanye. The line would be "Glastonbury expects fans to pay, but doesn't care enough to tell them who's playing".

It's not coming this week though, I've lost the faith.

The argument for a line-up tonight goes as follows:

1. We know they will mass email about the balance payment window.

2. They have suffered unfavourable attention regarding the Kanye petition.

3. Some people will want to be assured of more desirable musical choices before making payment.

4. They will want to limit damage by releasing more names.

5. The best way to do that is to email everyone about it directly.

6. The best way to do that is to use the balance payment window email.

7. The delay in sending the reminder email until now is indicative they will combine the two.

8. They are unlikely to wait until next week to send that email.

9. They are also unlikely to want to overshadow the IOW announcement tomorrow.

10. Ergo, the line up is coming tonight, Thursday 26th March.

It's a solid argument.

I can see this point of view also .. But if you don't want to take the risk of the lineup not being to your taste .. Then simply don't take up the option to go. That's the beauty of the deposit scheme. They aren't 'fooling' anybody by not releasing the lineup beforehand .. But I understand the press will not see it that way.

'A driving force in rock music for two decades' -- bahaahahahaha. It's safe MOR Radio 1 shite for the masses which wouldn't inspire or influence any young band. They're in the same field as Kaiser Chiefs, for example.

I put in 'In Utero' the other day. Now THAT is a fucking tour de force if there ever was one.

I like this post.

Unless the lineup is shocking and they know it so are banking on people paying regardless before they announce a turd.

Ps. I do not believe this is the case

there's more of an argument to be made from those for the reminder email coming today, and the lineup next week.

i don't think they'll use the reminder email to also announce the lineup. they didn't before.

I definitely agree that with the kanye backlash they feel they should let people know other acts - I know most of us are quite liberal but there are probably a few Glasto goers that will probably be abit cheesed off about paying before seeing who's playing.

You can argue, "well maybe glastonbury isn't for them", but in today's economy, I can understand why it's probably fair to release it before payment day?

Has no one else considered that they could release it 7pm friday? The IOW announcment is at 8am and I'd say that's barely overshadowing if IOW have the morning press and Glasto have the evening press. I'm not totally sold that today is the only day it can realistically be this week...
