Whether or not there is an announcement tonight, these would be flawed reasons:

The argument for a line-up tonight goes as follows:

1. We know they will mass email about the balance payment window. Yes but so what?

2. They have suffered unfavourable attention regarding the Kanye petition. No they haven't. It's actually good publicity for both Kanye and the festival. Kanye gets to have his 'Jay Z' moment and the petition and the ridiculous coverage of it makes the festival look good to its key audience (whether Kanye fans or not - I'm not) and gives Emily the chance to release her very positive statement about the way the festival goes about its business.

3. Some people will want to be assured of more desirable musical choices before making payment. I don't think there can be any such sing as a 'more desirable music choice' for 175000 people at the festival. It's a broad church and that's the whole point. For me, Radiohead would mean everything. For others in the past its been the Mumfords. What single name or choice could they come up with that would be a 'more desirable choice'?

4. They will want to limit damage by releasing more names. There is no damage. Quite the reverse in fact.

The rest is dependent on the first 4.

5. The best way to do that is to email everyone about it directly.

6. The best way to do that is to use the balance payment window email.

7. The delay in sending the reminder email until now is indicative they will combine the two.

8. They are unlikely to wait until next week to send that email.

9. They are also unlikely to want to overshadow the IOW announcement tomorrow.

10. Ergo, the line up is coming tonight, Thursday 26th March.

It's a solid argument.

You know the desperation has sunk in when people start ranking Prince at the top of the most likely candidates to be the last headliner.

Edit: that sounds like I was knocking Prince, I wasn't. Simply pointing out that 'likely' isn't a word I'd use to describe him in regards to Glastonbury.

So, back to who we reckon will headline Sunday?

My current top 5 names, in order of most likely to least likely, is ...

Prince

Taylor Swift

Stone Roses

Radiohead

Florence & The Machine

It feels weird because none of them seem particularly likely, I mean if you'd had that list back in november you'd probably have to flip it completely to get the correct order of likeliness at that time.

But yeah I agree, Taylor and Prince look the most likely at the moment.

That ten point reasoning is repetitive and flawed, not only in the ways already pointed out but also that the reminder email is sent out by SeeTickets not Glasto and also I don't remember ever receiving a lineup announcement email (then again may have just been so wrapped up in it it passed me by - 6 times)

I know where the roses and radiohead rumours came from and Florence.....but without having to search through 1032 pages where did the prince and Taylor rumours come from? What is it that has so many convinced? Gap in tour dates or

Neil had some duff info on it being Taylor a while ago, but her tour dates at least place her in the vicinity (although she hasn't done 4 dates on the trot on this tour which makes her unlikely)

Prince is basically just 'there's been very little info - so it's Prince'. i believe Neil has SOMETHING which might suggest it's him (sorry Neil, i am paraphrasing as always), but nothing at all concrete

with absolutely fuck all to suggest anybody, it could be them as much as anybody else. it still wouldn't surprise me if Madonna was announced tbh - a real out of the blue headliner

Taylor Swift? Just wikipedia'd her and she has 5 albums!

Not my thing at all musically - but is she big enough to headline? Genuine question as I know little about her except her songs are pretty catchy.

Will there be a British headliner?

No concrete evidence to suggest anybody really - except that Swift has been bookies favourite for a while and Stone Roses got backed right in to 2/1 last week. Kanye's odds plummeted the week leading up to his announcement!

My hope is Stone Roses - no doubt it'll be Prince though.

If an album is to be released in late Aug then a Glasto appearance would make perfect sense, especially with the 20 year significance! everything crossed this happens!
