LondonTom
I agree they were one of the most predicted, but I didn't think it was likely - thought they would choose something else. Big stadium rock band, not played the Festival for a good while? Played most other festivals fairly recently? Seem to be doing a few shows for fun/prestige than massive pay days, new album to promote.. Yes seemed completely unlikely
the wonderwhy
I see Flo is (sort of) making a return to live shows this weekend over in the States. She's gonna headline sooner or later...
Purple aki squat
I see Flo is (sort of) making a return to live shows this weekend over in the States. She's gonna headline sooner or later... Honestly can't understand why she can be considered as a headliner. Saw her a few years back on other and it was easily the worst thing I've ever seen there. Awful stuff

not worthy
I'm too many levels away from the origin to state much confidence and names as could be miles off, maybe ill have a small flutter though
Muppetmark
I'd be over the moon with depeche mode. Doubt they'll play next year though.
dentalplan
Yeah if they truly dropped out this year because they didn't wanna carry on touring then next year should definitely be off the table. Plus Radiohead probably won't have anything released.

Awful stuff I hope your stated lack of understanding is just a rhetorical device to emphasise your tedious dislike of Florence (an opinion which, I can assure you, has been comprehensively put forth on these forums for many years), rather than actually something you can't fathom, because it's really quite simple. If not, I think you might need to lay off whatever it is that's killing your brain cells at such a rate.
Brave Sir Robin
A poster on a football board I occasionally frequent says he's heard from two senior people in live music that headliners are Mac, D Mode & AC/DC. Says first two were booked a while ago, latter more recently. No idea of reliability. Personally I'd be surprised if Mode headlined, and think the Foos rumours sound very plausible. Plus Radiohead probably won't have anything released. I am not too sure about that. Maybe this is blind hope here, but they could have dropped out last year as they would have had no time to prepare a set for Glastonbury due to the extensive tour they were on. Hopefully that has given them time to get ready for 2015. There is no way that they could have done the Delta Machine tour set at Glastonbury. They hardly touched their 80's material on that tour (Martin did a few acoustic plus 2 or 3 others) . If they hopefully do play Glasto I think it will be a special one off set. Due to the complexity of some of the songs (samples, loops etc) it would take some time to prepare. There is not much time left really for Depeche Mode to headline Glastonbury. I hope more than anything that it is them next year. I would gladly accept not seeing one other band I liked if Depeche Mode were on. Nope they didn't do it because one of (or all?) wanted time off touring. When i seen them on the DM tour it was pretty much a greatest hits
HGavin
I think we need a classic Brit indie-brit pop act to headline. Glastonbury doesn't seem right without one. The Stone Roses, Libertines, Radiohead (of course genre is much more vast with these guys), Oasis.. hmm what other bands of that ilk are around or could reform to play? lme
I generally don't anywhere near the main stages but I would got the Libs. They seem to be planning an album and they were on blistering form for the gigs they did this summer.
eastynh
Nope they didn't do it because one of (or all?) wanted time off touring. When i seen them on the DM tour it was pretty much a greatest hits They played the big 3 so to speak but I would not have called it a greatest hits or a best of collection. They never played their 3 highest chart position tunes, not a lot of their early 80's stuff and only 2 tunes from SOFAD, which along with Violator is clearly their best album. I think if they played Glastonbury then their set would be completely different. Off the top of my head they would probably include Everything Counts, Condemnation, World In My Eyes, Stripped, Its No Good. That still leaves out Barrel Of A Gun and People Are People which are their 2 biggest UK hits plus a whole multitude of their best songs. It maybe a moot point anyway as the consensus seems to be they will not be playing. But surely tge time for them to headline a major UK festival is running out. Their last 2 singles over here only got into the 80's in regards to chart position. So even though they have a huge back catalouge, are still releasing original and thought provoking records and are a fantastic live act (Dave Gahan possibly the best frontman going) it is debateable whether they justify a headline spot at Glastonbury. Either way time is running out for them.
Zoo Music Girl
I saw Depeche Mode last year at the O2 and they were bloody brilliant. Not even a huge fan as the ticket was bought for me but they were seriously good. They did loads of hits then too and Dave was amazing. I'd love them there but don't think it's likely. Mardy
FWIW, I think they'd absolutely nail it. I'd not be there, and I don't like them, but they've got the songs and the show to smash it out of the Pyramid field.

I'd not be there, and I don't like them, but they've got the songs and the show to smash it out of the Pyramid field. For as long as I have been a fan, I have never been able to work them out. They go round the world headlining every other festival yet I can not remember them even playing one over here, apart from wireless. They would be perfect for Glastonbury yet for some strange reason they keep saying no. Is there any other British band with such a high worldwide profile that has never played Glastonbury? It is as if they are not really arsed about the UK. They deffo do not think that they get the respect they deserve as shown on the Johnathan Ross show. But if there was ever an opportunity to change peoples perceptions of the band then surely Glastonbury is that opportunity.
Bisque
I've heard Enjoy The Silence (like a moody Pet Shop Boys), I like the video to People Are People but doesn't ring a bell, Everything Counts was poor imo, Just Can't Get Enough is a tune- always thought it was someone rubbish like Yazoo, Personal Jesus seems more modern & have heard it before, bit boring though. Edit: Were they properly massive then? Edited October 26, 2014 by Couchy
