Split from your mates for the set....worst thing you can do at glasto is tie yourself to a group anyway......no one in my group last year was a metallica fan but me so I went on my own and had a cracking time down front not having to worry about anything,

I knew someone would suggest this... I guess everyone has there own opinion and way of doing things at festivals but for me the best times I've had at festivals have always been surrounded by mates, I've gone to tons of acts on my own and even if I have thought they were class (eg. Radiohead at reading a few years back) generally it's never as an enjoyable experience. Add in the fact that I also want to see Kanye so it's not as if I would be there against my will, just that I was pretty stoked for Chems.

no i think you've missed the point completely, he's saying that only people who categorically say they don't like the entire genre are dickheads

and he's right, anyone that writes off an entire genre based on the fact it's classed as that genre is a dickhead

I didn't use the word dickhead, but yes, that's what I meant.

I'm not really a fan of most metal, but I'd never say something like "all metal is rubbish" or "I don't like metal", I'll listen to the odd bit occasionally, like that Deafheaven album everyone said was great.

What if they write off the entire genre based on....oh I don't know....the fact they don't like that genre? Lots of people don't like metal music....Does that give me license to call them all dickheads? People like yourself are making all these laughable assumptions about 'why' people don't like Pop music without simply realising its a matter of simple personal taste, not everybody has to like everything you do.....if they did the world would be an extremely dull place!

I think the point they're trying to make is that there can be 'good' pop music and there can be 'good' metal and writing off an entire genre without hearing EVERYTHING that genre has to offer is not really being as open minded as someone perhaps should be.

Are you telling me the only people who don't like One Direction are either under 18s, archetypal metalheads, classical music nerds or dickheads?

What?

No, don't twist my words. People who group music into sub categories and then go "I don't like pop music" are dickheads, as if all pop music is awful with no merit at all.

In short, being a dickhead

You really didn't provide enough words to be twisted. Anyway, see my above reply to penguin for what I think was trying to be said. Still 'dickheads' id a bit harsh.

Not in my world buddy. If someone cant be open minded to different types of music i.e listening to that music, before making an honest opinion of that said song/music/artist then that person is a dickhead in my mind. If it was a friend of mine I would openly tell them to stop being a dickhead, as I have done in the past within my circle of friends.

He's in Germany on the Sunday.

EDIT: Or possibly Austria, wherever Leipzig is.

Germany

Is there any reason why Paul McCartney isn't getting a mention?

European exclusive to Roskilde apparently.

There is probably something else though on top of that, because I doubt people round here would rule him out just on that when they (still) refuse to do the same with Fleetwood Mac...

It's interesting isn't it my first initial thoughts were Fleetwood Mac & Paul McCartney given their touring schedule Glastonbury would fit in. Glasto normally have at least one British act don't they? Is that is an unofficial written rule or am I looking in to that too much?
