mr gumby
Damon too big for JP... right? I think it would depend on which musical 'incarnation' he was appearing as. Blur, definitely. Gorillaz, too big for JP yes, but probably not pyramid headliners anymore after last time. Solo? probably about right for JP, after all Johnny Marr did it! If he was performing 'Monkey: Journey to the West', he'd probably struggle to fill the tiny tea tent!

FuzzyDunlop
Nah, it's just the "about then" date they work to, I think. The tickets resale will be in early-ish April, and the line-up announcement is likely to be shortly before that. It's probably not the case that the line-up will be announced on exactly 1st April, but somewhen close to then. For a start, if they did announce on 1st April, it might be considered a joke. A bit like this, in fact. Ha ha.

Fair but he's barely played in UK solo so I'd imagine a lot of people would be intrigued to watch him. Headlined Latitude too

Headlined Latitude too Yeah, I expect you'd get some people turning up hoping for a few Blur or Gorillaz tracks, and maybe a guest appearance, like at Latitude, but I think most people heard 'Mr Tembo', so his solo audience has dropped a bit! Gnomicide
He was great at Latitude, much better than I expected. The last half hour was one of my musical highlights of the year.

dentalplan
Is Taylor Swift still a guilty pleasure? With her being almost everybody's guilty pleasure and that I don't think she's a guilty pleasure of anyone; her fanbase seems to consist of teenage girls and slightly older guys who are proud to fly in the face of people who don't consider her 'proper music'. eastynh
I remember going to my first festival (reading 94) and jilted generation was a huge album for us. In my eyes, the first album that brought together the 2 genresof dance and rock/alternative, or maybe the first that both subcultures could enjoy together New Order were doing that a decade before the Prodigy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwupfdyXGfY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_L_-CKg6pw

I find one or two of her's a bit catchy, but that's about it. That Shake It Off song is bloody dreadful. I don't get how anyone can like that

russycarps
I understand your point but the foos have never headlined before? they have played before and bands of their ilk headline every single year. They are the safest most boringly predictable of all acts. Taylor swift is complete shit but would be a slight move away from the norm, and more women need to be given headline slots. Considering credible artists like pj harvey or bjork have no chance, this woman is as good as anyone else.
bocumaroy
Why would anyone feel guilty about what music they like? Seems silly. She could outright headline or sub (if she really wants to play), kinda similar to the size of beyonce in 2011, wasn't she originally gonna sub the purple one? I think people may be giving her a bit of a bad name, her commercial material is very poppy, but then some of her more country - personal songs are actually pretty good. Plus she writes her own stuff! I wouldn't label her with Katy Perry etc, she's a step above those. To be honest most of my favourite songs of hers are the commercial hits. Her new album is pretty much pure pop. I’m not as taken by it as a lot of people seem to be; there are some good songs, but it’s a bit of a chore to listen to in full. I think it would work well live though. It’s still all about Shake It Off, for me. I fucking love that song. I quite like a few of Katy Perry songs. Rihanna is probably my favourite of the major female pop stars. I’d be interested in seeing her too, although, like Taylor, there’s a good chance that I’d end up watching someone else at another stage. Whenever I hear Radio 1 it’s mostly the stuff from ‘proper bands’ and the generic dance music that I dislike.

dentalplan
Why would anyone feel guilty about what music they like? Seems silly. If it's stuff like the Mr. Blobby song or DJ Otzi, that's moreso when it's a guilty pleasure because you know it's shit but you like it. Considering credible artists like pj harvey or bjork have no chance, this woman is as good as anyone else. Swift plays the guitar and she does write her own songs, I know that's minuscule but she's not complete tripe she does try! Why would anyone feel guilty about what music they like? Seems silly. I also like some of her stuff and i'm not really ashamed to admit it... According to her last world tour she had quite the show, something I didn't expect but if it comes to Glastonbury i'l happily check it out. She'd probably put a lot of effort into it... this won't be anything like if Rihanna or Katy Perry headlined, she's grouped with them but she would provide a very different live show. Gucci Piggy
I love how writing your own songs and playing an instrument makes you credible if you're a pop star, and is a reason for them not being shit, whereas I'm sure you'd happily label loads of bands who do the same as being shit.
