I'd agree that there were more exceptional performances for me last year, but I still saw a ton of awesome stuff.

My top 5, in terms of the ones I personally got the biggest kick out of:

1. Dolly Parton

2. Melt Yourself Down

3. The Wailers

4. Arcade Fire

5. Metallica

Special mentions to Wild Beasts, Blondie, Manics (for the oldies), Lana del Rey and English National Ballet (shed a tear for both of those).

Deltron 3030 were ace - never heard of them before but loved it! And Troker were ace, who we stumbled across by accident (read: couldn't be bothered to move after MYD).

1975 have to be one of the worst things I've ever seen - and I only saw two songs.

I echo the disappointment at a lack of Metallica pyro. Lasers were fantastic though, especially from the back.

1 - Paolo Nutini - that boy can sing

2 - Arcade Fire - predictably brilliant

3 - De La Soul - worked the crowd perfectly in the sunshine

4 - Red Light - saturday night party

5 - Kasabian - really enjoyed them, despite only viewing them as an other stage headliner at best

I must say...I am a massive White Lies fan but I'm surprised by the praise they've got here. Everytime I see them they look nervous and their songs sound incredibly flat compared with the studio versions. I watched the BBC footage and thought exactly the same. McVeigh's voice doesn't seem half as powerful to me and the guitars always seem to lack the spark they have on the albums.

1 De La Soul ( my must not miss and didn't disappoint)

2 Dolly

3 kasabian ( not a real fan but thoroughly enjoyed dancing to old stuff)

4 The Internet ( random new act picked from write up info, loved their music)

5 Sasha in the Glade Thurs night, top way to kick off a fab festival.

Agreed. I went up to Toad Hall to check out "Celt Islam", but predictably, everything was running late and I saw Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin instead. They were great. I should have stuck around to buy a CD. Here's a flavour from youtube

*Clannad (I thought the sound was appalling in the Acoustic Tent on Sunday night - Clannad means "family", but with their vocals at different volumes, they sounded as if they'd never met before!)

I am going for:

1. Kasabian (They were the only Pyramid headliner we saw this year- but thought they put on a decent show- Really picked our group up again that Sunday! 'Treat' s breakdown with the lazers was pretty cool on that big a stage)

2. Jon Hopkins (First time that I have ever seen him- He was awesome and the visuals were incredible! His bass was spilling out on to the Other stage like crazy)

3. Paolo Nutini (The man is brilliant. What a voice! It is nice to see him veering away from the pop stuff. He looked genuinely humble/ emotional when he was thanking people for coming to watch him)

4. DJ AFX (Apart from mean security guards, it was pretty exciting to see this guy play in The Temple. His intro was seriously messed up!)

5. Fat White Family in the William's Green (You couldn't take your eyes off of them...Partly in case they jumped or pooped on you...)

I saw Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin on the Small World Stage, not Toad Hall. At Toad Hall was their opening song the one that you have posted a YouTube link for? I think that was their opening Small World song, and it was amazing.

Like you I also saw Clannad, a band chosen completely at random ... but wasn't so impressed with anything other than their age.

1. Kasabian

2. Royal Blood

3. Jagwar Ma

4. Chvrches

5. Arcade Fire

Kaiser Chiefs nearly made it onto the list on the Other due to the fact they were the first live band I have ever seen at Glastonbury and although I was quite disappointed when I heard it was them, I actually found myself singing along and enjoying myself and got quite emotional too. (The Moment got me)
