Best Food 2014 Thread

So what was the best food stall/meal you found this year?

For us it was a surprise as the stall was by the Pyramid Stage/Cider Bus which I would normally associate with dodgy burgers and fries. It was the curry stall serving the Festival Mixed Meat Thali. £9.50 but a plate of gorgeous curries served with naan.

Second to that was the a Thai food stall between John Peel and The Beat Hotel.

Sadly I didn't have the sense to take any photos of either the stalls or the food. :(

That thai one was pricey though right?

Best meal I had was the gumbo up at Williams Green.

The crab/lobster place looked great but the queues were always too long.

There was a caribean place at Williams Green that was great - on the right as you faced the main tent.

Leons at West Holts, veggie, was supperb. £9.00 for a large plate that fed two.

Another one between WG and West Holts that sold Veggie food (it was called healthy stall or something like that) was very good too.

We are not veggies but love eating veggie food at festivals - so much nicer than burger and chips.

Gandhi's flip flop just by the West Holts stage just around the corner from the Brothers bar, as stated by Dave the Hedgehog was really really tasty. I paid 3 visits to it over the weekend and had the Veg Thali, which was absolutely beautiful. Tasty fresh and well worth £8. I had a helping of their food last year at Festival No 6 which was why I knew it was going to be great.

Pieminster was good as usual to!!

Thai Smile Bournmouth just over the bridge from Beat Hotel was a favourite from our group. Those of us who had been to Thailand were instantly transported back there by the smell and then the taste of the food. Those who hadn't been were just as impressed. Reasonably priced too at about £7 for a filling plate. The £1.50 large pakoras were good too.

A falafel place between Avalon and Greenpeace was my favourite from the weekend though, it was recommended by a friend last year and the wait was worthwhile.

Although saying that, none of us had a dud meal all weekend and I didn't eat in the same place twice, eat anywhere that had a queue and only paid what I considered a fair price.

The Carribean place in William's Green was excellent, I walked by Ghandi's Flip Flop a few times, always right after I'd eaten and vowed to go later but never did. 2015 will be the year of Ghandi's Flip Flop! Popped my No Bones Jones cherry this year and it blew my mind, had to go back about 3 times, I know I'm late to the party here, but that stuff is insane.

On the way back to the tent after arcade fire I got a pulled pork bun from the beat hotel diner. Expected something very average but it was absolutely deliscious and for £7 there was a ridiculous amount, was great value and a pleasant surprise.

I had the crisp crab cakes at the crab /lobster place. I've always preferred crab over lobster. Lobster is badly overrated. That said the stall was selling far more portions of half lobster than it was of their crab cakes. The crab cakes were very good but would have liked 1 or 2 more for the tenner. The home made coleslaw was also good

The let down waa the boring frites

The Burmese salad from the Burmese tea tent in the Green Fields. I was expecting some rabbit food type fare but it was soo delicious. Marinaded ginger, fried garlic, roasted peanuts, dried peas and the like...we became regular customers there. It was donation based too so didn't cost a bomb.

Also, the stall in the Greenpeace field that sold bread. We had a plate of just-out-of-the-oven cheese and pesto focaccia which was so yummy.
