Everything that is not good will be good before long and then not good again!!

The difference between factor 15 and factor 50 is so very small it is pointless spending the money on it - just reapply once or twice a day.

Also the expensive brands contain exactly the same as the cheaper one - so save cash and buy unbranded stuff (Malibu used to be one but was bought out by a big company and is now more expensive!!).

The whole industry is, IMHO, a big con feeding of our fear on skin cancer.

Be sensible, stay out of the sun in the hottest parts of the day and expose yourself for 30 mins at a time with factor 15 on and you should be fine - even with ginger white skin!!!

You might gather I do not like large companies ripping us off!!

Interestingly I heard a few years ago much the opposite - that anything less that SPF15 was an utter waste of money because it offers virtually no protection.

There have been some very interesting articles about the dangers of suncream, they seems to run along two lines. Firstly, that the chemicals in suncream may be more carcinogenic than the sun. Secondly that total sunblock prevents the skin from absorbing Vitamin D which in turn is vital for preventing some cancers.

Personally I go for a 20 or 30 cos I do burn and I like being out in the blazing hot sunshine!

I had a quick look and found some people saying it might not be any better than factor 30. Any links on the the problems you could provide?

Sorry people, remiss of me to fling a random poat in!

Sorry also for quoting the Torygraph, but I can't find the other article i wrote.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/8268321/Schoolgirls-rickets-blamed-on-sunscreen.html

The article I read elsewhere said that we are becoming a bit too zealous at blocking the sun and that factor 50 is too much of a blaock. Factor 30 is good, but then just cover up with clothes.

I did also read an article that said as all sunscreens have to meet minimum EU regulations, you might as well go to Poundland.

The ones we have done:

Nozstock - small and quite lovely. No real biggies for bands if that's what you want but a lovely setting. Beware of the NOZ arsoles who stay in the campsite all day until 2am then truddle off to see Andy C. Only to return to be arsoles at 5/6am

Standon Calling - told you all Before

Beautiful days - nothing bad to say - great for families - LOADS of chairs people!!!! - but we decided it just was too clean! No imagination/homemade stuff. A bit of a Levellers love -in. Put it this way - we saw The Selector last year at Boomtown and Beautiful Days . I looked at the floor at Boomtown and saw some Noz canisters. I looked down at B.D. and saw a packet of fart powder!
